If you are taking a trip to the florida keys, this is a must see attradction. It's only $1.00 to get in to see the huge tarpon and other types of fish. They are not penned in and free to swim in and out of the marina. There are lots of different types of birds and pelicans too. You can get a small bucket of fish to feed them. Everybody there has a great time.

Don't miss it.

Have a good trip

“Rude and unprofessional staff, unseaworthy boats and even worse...”

I am almost at a loss of where to start when it comes to Robbie's Marina, especially about finding anything positive to say.

To begin, they will make you sign a contract which puts a $2,000 hold on your credit card for the boat you rent, which, in and of itself is not a problem, until they decide to charge you added expenses when you return, with no legitimate reason for doing so.
The boat we rented had torn seats, no rear ladder, the fuel guage didn't work so you have no idea whether you will get stuck in the middle of the ocean, and the engine wouldn't start when we were trying to get back to the marina at the end of the day.
The man who claims to be the owner loves to use profanities when you call to tell him the engine won't start and you can't get the boat back. He is arrogant and I quote, "I will force your credit card through" for the extra charges, regardless of the fact that the boat didn't make it back on time because the engine didn't work.
That same staff member made a sexually explicit comment to the wife of a friend of mine who was on the boat with us.
And finally, when we returned to ask for a copy of the contract, he said that we would have to wait 30 minutes to get it.
In conclusion, there are numerous marina's in Islamorada with friendly staff, seaworthy boats and professional attitudes towards their clients. Robbie's is NOT ONE OF THEM!!

“Feeding fish is fun, fishing not so much.”

We went out on the Capt. Michael to fish and right off the start they charged us each $35 to fish, $8 for rods, and pressured us relentlessly to be in a stern spot - extra $5 each. We waited on some people to arrive that called and said they were running late, so we left 20 minutes late and they promised that we would stay out later because of that when we actually came back in 5 minutes early. So we lost 30 minutes of paid time. Then, every time we would stop to fish if no one caught anything immediately we were moving to a different spot. The whole boat only caught 13 fish for the day and most of the day was spent moving around the ocean every 10 minutes. They were short staffed, but it didn't matter because we weren't catching anything anyways. Oh, and you can't catch dolphin(mahi-mahi) from their fishing trips because they don't go out deep enough. So don't let the website pictures fool you. I didn't really care about air conditioning, but there was an older couple that was complaining because the website says it's air conditioned and it's not. So, feed the fish on the docks, but go somewhere else to go on a fishing trip.

“Fun feeding fish”

Great activity for the kids. It's cheap - a buck to get in - couple of bucks if you want bait to feed the fish. The tarpon are huge and free to come and go under the enclosure. They come in it to grab the little fishies you are tossing. Do mind the pelicans, they are extremely quick and will bite, we were told but did not experience. You can also rent jetskis, kayaks, and schedule tours there. Get lunch, a drink, or purchase some cool jewelry from the two gals out front at bargain basement prices. (I went back 3 times!) Hit it at the start of your stay. It's a good info. place.

I've been reading the reviews here, and I don't think they do Robbie's justice. If it were just a place to feed tarpon, I'd have never gone there. This is a marina that offers a variety of boating experiences from guided kayak tours to fishing boat rentals. I had read about their sunset eco-tours, but I wanted to try them out first, so we took a tour to Lignumvitae Island to check out their operations. We had a really nice experience, and enjoyed the afternoon, so we called to book a sunset eco-tour. It wasn't the high season for this, and it seems to be a service that is outsourced, so we talked to the captain of a boat who was clearly putting together his six person tours on a very short term basis.

The tour we booked was the highlight of our vacation. The electric boat was captained by a man raised in the area who knew how to balance storytelling with letting the participants experience the beautiful surroundings, and his environmentalism and knowledge of the area made for an amazing tour which included a visit with a manatee family (we had almost given up on seeing any manatees when we encountered them).

If we had stayed in the area longer we would have surely booked more tours. Everyone there was friendly and helpful and mellow. If you are just passing through, skip the tarpon feeding and just have lunch on the outdoor deck of the diner and watch the tourists feed the fat lazy fish when the bait makes it past the aggressive pelicans - then you'll get all of the entertainment without the danger of getting nipped by a bird.
