“great atmosphere..disappointed with food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

We dined at the IFC in October 2012. It was a slow night, beautiful setting. My partner and i decided to share a few appetizers. Starting with the conch fritters, which we are testing throughout the keys. We found the fritters bland, very doughy. With little conch in them, they were served with 2sauces, which helped add flavor. The fish tacos were fabuloulous! The salsa that was served on the side was a nice compliment. The next app was the crab cake. Again, very bland, and actually cold in the center. Our waitress offered us another, but we declined, it was taken off of our bill. We had also orderd french fries which never arrived....so again, I was disappointed after having high hopes at such a lovely place!

“Great view, food was overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

I'm from Jacksonville, FL and often eat the seafood in St. Augustine. I was disappointed with the food here - it was expensive, but it was also overbreaded (like the frozen stuff) and I was expecting to be wowed. The key lime pie was very good, though, and the service was fine.

“Nice atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

The restaurant is located behind the World Wide Sports store. They had live music going, torches lit on the little beach next to the restaurant and it was really a very nice setting in the early evening. The dining area was mostly outdoors, but they did have some covered seating that was air conditioned. The food was good. I had the fried coconut shrimp and my companion had the fried yellowtail sandwich. I had actually ordered just the plain fried shrimp, but apparently there was a mix up in the kitchen. It was probably better than my original choice anyway. Had the fish spread, which was o.k. Everyone in the Keys does it a little differently, so it's just a matter of what you prefer. Also had a crab cake, which was good, but crab cakes aren't a specialty in the Keys. Stone crabs weren't in season, so it was probably Maryland crab used in the cake. There was also a lagoon next to the restaurant formed by the docks/walkway and you could stand on the walkway and watch as someone fed the sharks in the water. A sight to see! Lastly, they have a market on the upper level next to the World Wide Sports store that sells all kinds of fresh seafood, gourment foods and different types of key lime pies. We bought a whole key lime pie and enjoyed it every night for the rest of our stay. The atmosphere and the market are worth a visit here.

“High Quality, No Nonsense, Great Fish”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Stopped off at IFC at sunset on a Saturday. I guess this is the busiest time. What impressed me is that it seems to have something for everyone: you can book a table and have a reasonably formal dinner or you can stroll up and eat/drink at the bar. There was an indoor restaurant but also masses of tables outside.

It looks like part of a chain but still seemed to have a nice character of its own. The menu was obviously fish-biased but pretty well balanced with lots of choice without being overwhelming.

Fantastic blackened grouper and a really nice Key Lime pie. I have had a few KLPs and this one was pretty nice but done in a dish with too much filling. Minor complaint though. Service was quick and efficient and the bar lady very friendly.

After sunset there was some bizarre but fun cabaret including one man steel band and a fire eater.

I most definitely recommend this restaurant!
