I write this review as someone who had eaten at Pierre's at least six times over the past eight or so years.....The seventh trip was definitely my last.
It all started when I called the restaurant over a week before I was to arrive in Islamorada and made reservations for two on a Saturday night. The individual I made the reservation with was polite and attentive. That night was the night of my engagement to my fiance, and I kindly asked for nothing more than good service and a good view of the water from our table. I made sure they understood the importance of the dinner as to my engagement from earlier in the day.
Upon arriving to the restaurant we were greeted by a rude host that I presume was the owner (because he was rude and sounded french). After giving him our reservation, I kindly asked him to serve a special bottle of wine that I brought that had sentimental value to my fiance and I. His reply with a smirk and poor english was, "Ah no corkage fee". I then explained to him that I had spoken to someone at the restaurant and it was the night of our engagement. Without any congratulations, he repeats, "Ah no corkage fee" and "We have very extensive wine list". I wasn't in the mood to ruin our special evening so I took the bottle back to the car and we went to the bar in Pierre's for a drink. I checked his "very extensive wine list" and it was an absolute joke. The vintage year on the bottle of Silver Oak I brought was five years older than what he had on his joke of a wine list!!!! I would have paid however much Pierre's wanted for the corkage fee. Money wasn't the issue and they managed to ruin, for a short time, our evening.
We finished our drinks and walked out of the dump. If that guy is the owner, he needs to look around and see all the empty tables and learn that being rude and classless doesn't work in the restaurant business.
I understand going to Pierre's for the view, but if you have a special occasion you are planning to celebrate, stay away from Pierre's! I would recommend Island Grill or Marker 88, better attitudes and experience!
