“Nice stop along the way to/from Key West”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

This was recommended by a friend who was stationed on Key West.
The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because of the confusion with the wait staff at first. Apparently no one was assigned to our table until a waitress setting up other tables nearby gave us a puzzled look then came over and checked to see if we had been taken care of. The young man who eventually was assigned to us was above and beyond. He was friendly, apologetic, efficient and knowledgible.
The conch was superb, as was the fish cake sandwich. Even the chicken sandwich had sprouts and avocados in it. A nice touch.
The outdoor seating with views of the water from the huge patio made for a nice, garden party / picnic atmosphere.

“A beautiful spot to enjoy some seafood... With a view!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical when we pulled into this hidden eatery. What immediately caught my attention though was the fantastic view of the water from the docks! We were seated in front of the docks, the sun was setting.... It was gorgeous. As for food, I had the onion-crusted Mahi-Mahi with Thai green beans. Also scrumptious. They have a medley of seafoods and soups and salads and such on their menu, so even the non fish-loving members of our party could find something to eat.
A word of caution: as far as food goes, this may be a bit more pricey than some would like. We were on a special trip, so this wasn't too much of a problem, but I wouldn't call this a place I would visit each week, for my wallet's sake..!
In all, it was a very nice experience, good food with a variety of options, and a LOVELY dining atmosphere.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

We are foodies and were just getting away for the weekend. We're not from around here and so we asked our hotel "concierge", if you can call a guy in flip flops and a t-shirt where there was a good place to eat. He said, "go to Marker 88... It's one of my favs". So we drove down A1A and came across a sign that looked like a motel. I asked my boyfriend, "Are you sure this is it?" and we drove through the gravel to find this outdoor area that reminded me of a restaurant in Martinique. We sat down anywhere we wanted and chose a table secluded by a small pier and the water with twinkly lights. Our server, Joe, recommended us an ahi tuna appetizer and oysters that were fresh and delicious. We also had a crisp Savignon Blanc to go with the Captain's Platter which had Lobster, shrimp and Mahi-Mahi and was fresh, light and buttery. We couldn't decide between the key lime pie and the molten chocolate cake... So they were nice enough to give us a bit of both. So glad that we did because we both each took to one and couldn't let it go. My boyfriend says it's one of the best meals he's had in a long time and just kept saying, "oh my god" over and over. Overall the service was great, the food was delicious and the ambience exactly what we wanted... Cozy, nicely lit, and comfortable. In closing, looks can be deceiving, so don't let that deter you from this hidden gem.

“Sin”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

Grandson was getting married, had a dinner for 22. First sin was room was not available at the scheduled time so we were encouraged to wait at the outdoor bar; I really hate having a reservation and then waiting an additional 30 minutes, this only increases the bar tab.

While at the bar I observed the bartender charging different prices for the same drink. He charged one customer $ 12.00 and another a whole lot less for the same thing. Second sin.

Finally seated and then more drinks, appeatizers took 30-45 minutes to be served, several members of the party asked the servers about dinner orders and were told they could not discuss or take orders until appeatizers were finished. Another sin, customer is always right.

Menu was average, my Wife cooks the majority of this menu at home.Several specials sounded interesting but prices were not quoted. Two of party had monkfish- excellent! Coconut crusted fish was good. Scallop dish was surprise, four tiny scallops, cooked properly, was $ 37.00. We live in central Florida and diver scallops sell retail for $14.00 per pound at fish mongers. Way overpriced. Felt ripped off.

“Great Food, Great Staff, Great Views and a Zoo is included!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

We went here to celebrate a speical occation. The first night in town we got there quite late and they were quite busy but ended up with a lovely table close to the water. The night ambiance was delightful but there could have been a tad more light. We both had fish and it was delicious and our server was great and very helpful. We had the flaming key lime dessert and oh my gosh this was heaven. We had such a great dinner that we decided to go back for lunch two days later. We were seated on one of the swing type tables right by the water again. Everyone seated around us was quite friendly so we had a lot of fun talking to others. And then! Wow we had all sizes of beautiful birds come walking by. They were well behaved but you knew they were looking for handouts. We thought this was pretty amazing until the Iguanas showed up. All sizes, all colors and once again if you are not afraid of them quite fun to see their antics. Then there were the beautfiul fish swimming in the crystal clear water. There were so many and their colors were beautiful. We had a great lunch with a delightful waitress who had just moved to the area and then we were entertained by the wildlife. A great way to celebrate an anniversary weekend.
