“Simple Perfection”

Drop Anchor Resort

I just returned from a 3 night stay in room 12 and it was absolutely wonderful. I'd like to start off by saying that the website pictures were a 100% accurate representation of both the room and the gorgeous
grounds. The resort is older but the only parts of the room that showed the age were the bathroom and the kitchen cabinets but both were immaculately clean and functional. The bathroom just has a shower-with terriffic water pressure-no problem for us but may be an issue if you require a bathtub, perhaps if traveling with little ones. Other rooms may have them, I'm not sure. The appliances in the kitchen except for the stove seemed brand new and included a full size fridge, microwave, coffee maker and blender. The stove was a small one but worked fine. Kitchen was supplied with utensils, plates, everything you'd need to make a simple meal and even wine glasses.

The beds were extremely comfortable. The master bedroom had a large dresser and closet, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Our 2nd bedroom had 2 twin beds and a 3 drawer dresser. Each bedroom had a ceiling fan and an AC unit and there was another fan and AC in the main living area. Our unit was closest to the road but traffic noise was never an issue nor was privacy. We had a picnic table as well as a patio with 4 chairs and a charcoal grill.

TV with plentiful channels (that we barely used), comfortable sofa and 2 chairs and a kitchen table with 4 chairs in the main living area.

The grounds are beautiful. Lots of adirondack chairs, thatched huts, chaise lounges and hammocks. The pool was pristine.

The thing that struck me the most was how quiet it was. The resort had no vacancy while we were there but it seemed like we were the only ones there. Never more than 2 or 3 other people at the pool or on the beach. I went out every night after sunset and was always the only one out there. The last night we were there somebody was shooting fireworks from a boat just down the shore and the beach was full. As soon as it was over, everyone disappeared! If you are looking for quiet this is THE place.

Just to clarify, when I say bech I mean sand-it's not direct ocean access but a sandy area and then a concrete dock with boat tie-ups. I sat there one day and watched crabs, fish and even saw a sting ray swim by-awesome. Lots of birds-fun to watch.

Maid service is every 3rd day which I prefer in a place like this. Just be sure you have what you need after they leave. We always had plenty of towels but they forgot to replenish our toilet paper which I discovered at 8 a.m. the next morning and the office didn't open until 9:00. Again, no big deal.

The owners were awesome and a huge help with restaurant recommendations.

So, sorry for the novel but I just can't say enough about this little
slice of heaven on earth. Perhaps it's not for you if you are into fancy but if you are looking for a spacious, comfortable room in a beautiful and quiet location then don't look any farther than the Drop Anchor.

We stayed at the Drop Anchor for four nights in April, and we wish we could have stayed a couple more. This is a pleasant and peaceful place, whether you are sitting on the beach, at the pool, or in your rooms. The rooms were uniquely decorated and very clean. Even though there were no vacancies during the time we were there, we often felt as though there were only a few guests, as it was so quiet and restful.

Though it was our first trip to the Drop Anchor, we met several people who were repeat guests, which we plan to become.

The owners have created a beautiful and great place to give their customers a wonderful and relaxing vacation spot.

We just got back from the Drop Anchor Resort in Islamorada, FL and had a wonderful stay. Upon arrival, the owners greeted us and were very helpful, they continued to be accommodating and helpful for our entire 5 day stay, helping us with directions and places of interest. We stayed in room #2, ocean level and were not disappointed. The room was decorated wonderfully and classy, and fully equipped with everything - right down to a blender to make drinks! We enjoyed the well maintained property and the pool - we especially loved all of the hammocks. The resort is conveniently located to a lot of the major bars and restaurants in Islamorada, we didnt drive more than 3 miles either way for dinner or fun. We took walks to local resorts and marinas and had a wonderful time getting to know the locals at Whale Harbor. There is a Tiki Bar right down the road and a bar open till 4am within walking distance of the Drop Anchor!

There weren’t many downfalls - the walls to the rooms were a bit thin, and you could hear a lot of the hustle and bustle of the maids and it is on the ocean side, so you have to go elsewhere to see the sunsets, but it was well worth it!

We absolutely loved our time spent at the Drop Anchor and highly recommend it to any travelers! We look forward to our stay next year!

I am not so enthusiastic about this place as other reviewers. The location is fine and the outdoor area is immaculately maintained with a good pool. hammocks, barbeques and plenty of seating and tables to eat at if you wish. It is in walking distance of a few bars and restaurants and we heard little traffic noise. However you do need to be prepared for very old and worn accomodation, poor bathrooms (only 1 small bath towel each- what is that about!), rooms only being cleaned every other day, having to fetch your own clean bath towels if you want them on non-maid days and not being able to swim in the sea directly from the property. I would also have liked to see a bit more of our hosts, particularly when I rose early one morning to find a couple sleeping in the hammock with blankets and beer bottles strewn around - hmmm!

“Lots of Fun”

Cute and convenient little resort priced right for two families on a budget with 5 kids total. We enjoyed using the grill and kitchen and eating at the picnic table for dinner. We all enjoyed the hammocks and chairs and watched the birds feast in the evening when the tide was low. The kids were able to do some fishing and had fun swimming. I would recomomend to friends and family and return in the future. Very clean and comfortable rooms with tasteful decorations.
