I just returned from a 3 night stay in room 12 and it was absolutely wonderful. I'd like to start off by saying that the website pictures were a 100% accurate representation of both the room and the gorgeous
grounds. The resort is older but the only parts of the room that showed the age were the bathroom and the kitchen cabinets but both were immaculately clean and functional. The bathroom just has a shower-with terriffic water pressure-no problem for us but may be an issue if you require a bathtub, perhaps if traveling with little ones. Other rooms may have them, I'm not sure. The appliances in the kitchen except for the stove seemed brand new and included a full size fridge, microwave, coffee maker and blender. The stove was a small one but worked fine. Kitchen was supplied with utensils, plates, everything you'd need to make a simple meal and even wine glasses.
The beds were extremely comfortable. The master bedroom had a large dresser and closet, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Our 2nd bedroom had 2 twin beds and a 3 drawer dresser. Each bedroom had a ceiling fan and an AC unit and there was another fan and AC in the main living area. Our unit was closest to the road but traffic noise was never an issue nor was privacy. We had a picnic table as well as a patio with 4 chairs and a charcoal grill.
TV with plentiful channels (that we barely used), comfortable sofa and 2 chairs and a kitchen table with 4 chairs in the main living area.
The grounds are beautiful. Lots of adirondack chairs, thatched huts, chaise lounges and hammocks. The pool was pristine.
The thing that struck me the most was how quiet it was. The resort had no vacancy while we were there but it seemed like we were the only ones there. Never more than 2 or 3 other people at the pool or on the beach. I went out every night after sunset and was always the only one out there. The last night we were there somebody was shooting fireworks from a boat just down the shore and the beach was full. As soon as it was over, everyone disappeared! If you are looking for quiet this is THE place.
Just to clarify, when I say bech I mean sand-it's not direct ocean access but a sandy area and then a concrete dock with boat tie-ups. I sat there one day and watched crabs, fish and even saw a sting ray swim by-awesome. Lots of birds-fun to watch.
Maid service is every 3rd day which I prefer in a place like this. Just be sure you have what you need after they leave. We always had plenty of towels but they forgot to replenish our toilet paper which I discovered at 8 a.m. the next morning and the office didn't open until 9:00. Again, no big deal.
The owners were awesome and a huge help with restaurant recommendations.
So, sorry for the novel but I just can't say enough about this little
slice of heaven on earth. Perhaps it's not for you if you are into fancy but if you are looking for a spacious, comfortable room in a beautiful and quiet location then don't look any farther than the Drop Anchor.
