“The Islander in Islamorada”

small unassuming motel on it's own man made beach, oceanside at MM 82.1. The best features is the swimming area...two nice pools, one salt water and the other fresh water. The pool house, bar and grill are nice. The rooms are 1960s vintage but have been upgraded and are spacious and clean. I suspect the matresses are 20 years old. They make noises when you roll over. There is nothing pretentious here, not a bad place if you aren't in the mood to spend a lot of money.

Great location in Islamorada, and large comfortable rooms. Our room had its own kitchen, enclosed porch, and outdoor lounge area. We were only there for a couple of days but I think it would be a wonderful place to stay for an extended period.

The resort is very spread out and has lovely ocean views and two beautiful pools. Their onsite restaurant was excellent, and we also took advantage of the free continental breakfast every morning.

Just returned from a girls weekend at the Islander Resort. The rooms were spacious and had a nice kitchenette. We were in an Ocean View Room with an obstructed view of the ocean, but it was a very quick walk to the water. The service was very good, the food was very good and the pool and hottub area was very pleasant. The beach is more like a slab of concrete with a light layer of dirty sand, but still a nice place to sit and look out at the water. Les at the Watersports Hut was wonderful! The front desk was wonderful! It was a relatively short drive (2 very pleasant hours) for a day trip to Key West. Also very close to diving, snorkling and dolphin experiences. The only downsides were the noisy air conditioner and the fact that they rent out the poolside umbrellas which is extremely tacky.

Our family enjoyed a pleasant stay at the Islander Resort over Spring Break. The resort was clean. The staff was very accommodating. The oceanview from our room was fabulous. We loved having a kitchen and separate bedrooms for the boys. Fantastic vacation!

Went to Islamorada on Friday 9/18 through Sunday 9/20 to celebrate my fiancee's birthday. Thanks to Tripadvisor reviews & forum recommendations of locals - I booked us at The Islander (I also got a great deal w/their September Special for only $99 per night!!!). The rooms are all little "villas" each with its' own private screened in patio w/table and chairs and ceiling fan, and just outside the screened in patio there is an outdoor area for each with lounge chairs for sunning. The room was perfect - had a kitchenette, in which I didn't expect a full size range/stove and fridge, microwave - even a dishwasher!!! Fully loaded with dishware and silverware too. No complaints about the room whatsoever. It was nicely decorated and was very comfortable for relaxing in. The resort itself is beautiful, very nice grounds all around. Their "beach" area is huge with lots of beach/lounge chairs to use and a cool fishing pier out into the water. We were lucky enough to see 5 or 6 HUGE, beautiful Manatees swimming by one morning under the dock!! Everyone working there - from the front desk to the cleaning crew - were very friendly and helpful. And, lastly, the restaurant on site - Bluewater Tiki Bar & Grill has VERY good food!! We ate there twice over the weekend. My fiancee had the seared scallops appetizer BOTH times, it was that good - and was presented beautifully. We also tried the Fried Pickles - VERY yummy! The location was just right too for all the places we wanted to go - everything was really close. Overall - not one complaint, and to sum it up - again.....Just Perfect! We will be back.

LOVE the fact that they are pet friendly. It's one of my favorite places - it has a "Keys" feel but with mainland hotel amenities. Can't beat that for a great "get-away! Plan to go back over Columbus Day weekend I liked it that much.
