If the restaurant service was better ide have ranked this place a 5 because the location and landscaping are magnificent!
You have acces to salt and freshwater pools as well as beachfront views with snorkeling rides and paddleboarding!
My family and I had the pleasure of meeting Mark, he was attentive and answered all of our questions!! ¡Muchas Gracias Mark G! Because of you, we will be back!!

I was fortunate enough to be invited to a wedding at this pristine little property. I am so glad I was able to attend. I had a courtyard king room and it was immaculately clean, perfectly comfortable, and very well appointed. I loved the beamed vaulted ceilings. The entire resort was warm and the people very friendly. From the teams in food and beverage, front office, and housekeeping, you made my stay so enjoyable! Thank you and kudos! You could teach that place across the street a thing or three about customer service.

Room Tip: 324 was my room. I was glad as it was away from the pool where the kids were and there was a hammoc...

just returned from 4 nites at The Islander. Room 211 is very large and does have ocean views. but it is not the photo that is posted next to "the 2 bedroom suite floor plan" on their website. although 211 was huge and roomie and had all the comforts we were expecting, ocean view, full kitchen & living room, large screened in florida room, it left alot to be desired. the furnishings are old and dirty and need updated. couches are stained. towels were white and clean. bed sheets were several different shades of white. the bed i was in, sheet had a hole. comforters are done and need replaced. the beds are hard and very uncomfortable. there were window shades, but no curtains as are in the photos on web site. 2nd bedroom in 2 bedroom suite #211 def needs curtains of some sort, as the large window faces the back of the restaurant and bar that have lights on all night long shining into the room between the cracks of the shades. the beach is not exactly for swimming. it is rocky and full of seagrass. the 24 hr pier is a nice addition although we were intitally told by the employee at The Islander Watersports shack "you won't catch much of anything there other than maybe some small stuff, you'll need a boat". so we avoided the pier and found out on our own the last day we were there fishing off the pier was fun and full of fishing activity. certainly not game fish, but plenty to catch. the pools are fairly clean but i found them to be small when compared to most "resort pools". the staff is all really nice, although the front desk can turn you off in a heartbeat. we were intially greeted by a young blonde girl at the counter with a very bad attitude which turned us off to the rental. we arrived early and got bad attitude maybe because of it rather than a warm welcome and greeting! we decided to search out other resorts in Islamorada. both because our initial greeting was a complete turn off and when we first saw the room we though this was a complete rip off for the money we paid. when compared to several other resorts we checked out in Islamorada, we did find this to be one of the nicer "resorts" in the area if you are looking for that laid back beachy feel. but don't count on the pictures on the website. i think the pictures were taken the year the rooms were first decorated. all in all we did have a good time.

Room Tip: #211. very large. faces the ocean. not the photos on website. those are probably the "newer...

We had a Lanai Courtyard King Bed room for 2 nights. The room was huge, and the enclosed was really nice. A great spot for us to bring back the included breakfast. It was an easy walk over to the pools, and the bar as well as the beach. Hammocks were setup nearby and the whole feel of the place was very comfortable. The kitchenette was a nice, even though we didn't end up using it. There was also rentals onsite for jetskis, sailboats, etc.

Everything we really wanted or needed was close at hand

My husband and I booked a long weekend here and really loved it. What I we liked:
Beach with ocean access for swimming
Large pool (2 pools)
Food and drinks on-site
Old Florida Keys feel
Screened porch
Not owned by a huge chain
Nice front desk staff
Old building, but room smelled fresh
Megan, one of the pool-side servers; nice and friendly as can be!

Didn't like:
Needs some updating (noisy wall unit a/c and jalousie doors) with big gaps all around
Housekeeping only came to clean up 1 out of a 4 night stay and didn't replace all the towels
Rude and inconsiderate guests who think it's OK to smoke cigars at the pool (not the hotel's fault)
Lounge chairs are uncomfortable!

We were reluctant to book here because of the age of the place (built 1953), but honestly, the resort was quite nice. The beach is huge, well groomed, but beware of the "kitty-litter" sand. The atmosphere is very relaxed and suitable for couples and families. There was a wedding booked while we were there so the atmosphere was extra festive. We had planned to go to Key West one day, but decided we were enjoying ourselves at the pool so why bother driving anywhere. The rooms are adequate; not luxurious, but clean and fairly large. I love having a kitchenette and the TV was a newer flat-screen. The beds were comfortable enough, but the mattresses will need replacing soon. The cost was reasonable and they don't hit you with parking fees, resort fees, etc. Overall, we had a great time and will probably go back.

Room Tip: We liked the poolside rooms; short walk to the pool and beach. You still have ocean view from the p...

I stayed at the Islander with two girlfriends on our way to Key West. The location is perfect, 1/2 way down the keys. The room was exactly what we needed. Nothing fancy, but it was clean and well appointed. The kitchenette was great with a good sized fridge. Loved the screen porch. The location wasn't "beachy" but we enjoyed spectacular sunrises. There was a rowdy wedding party at the pool bar one night, but the bartenders handled it well. We did not use the pools but they seemed very clean, and the next morning after that party you never would have known it took place.

The breakfast was great and well stocked. The location was great for walking. I would definitely stay here again.

Have stayed at the Islander Resort several times over the past two years. The efficiency rooms at the Islander Resort are quite adequate and clean. It's nice having a kitchenette in the Suite with full refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher plus table and chairs. Great for a families traveling to stay for a week or longer or those fishermen wanting to stay for a spell to catch the 'big' one. You can save on preparing some of your meals right in the Suite. The added screened porch is quite nice to have some place outside to eat as well. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Conveniently located within walking distance to local restaurants and shops. The two pools at The Islander Resort are great - one being a saltwater pool with zero entry not to mention the beach area and the water sports offered.

Room Tip: Request rooms that have a pool or ocean view. Rooms located further back on the property is a long...
