Had dinner with friends here at their suggestion. It's not fancy, but it is welcoming and comfortable. A perfect place for casual dining.
Apparently the restaurant has had a number of incarnations as different styles of dining under different owners that for one reason or another didn't survive. The current owners (so far) seem to have the right stuff to last a while. It's hard to beat good simple Cuban food.
The food IS good, simple Cuban fare. No bells or whistles, just tasty wholesome staples. I had the roast pork with rice & black beans and maduros (fried sweet plantains). It was very tasty and generously portioned.
Service was adequate though a little on the slow side. They definitely don't hover over you as you eat. It can be a little difficult to get a servers attention. But the food was brought out promptly.
The prices were also quite reasonable.
I look forward to eating there again.
