“Good base”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Spacious and clean accommodation in an ideal spot for exploring the Upper and Middle Keys - a good price too. Would endorse the positive nature of recent reviews. It would have been a further plus if a restaurant had been in walking distance so we wouldn't have to worry about drinking and driving, but self-catering facilities are good.

If you go to Islamorada and want a clean, friendly and quiet place to stay this is it. We spent the most relaxing week on vacation at this resort. The rooms are large with full kitchens. The pool is nice and very clean. Mike and Rhonda the managers gave us great ideas on where to eat and are very helpful with any questions you may have. They have a boat ramp with water to clean the boats a filet table to clean your catch. There are BBQ grills for every unit along with picnic tables and plenty of lawn lounges and chairs. The best is the observation deck that you can look out over the Alantic and see the waters before you go out on the water. I was very happy with our discovery of the Ragged Edge and we will go back next year if we can wait a year. It just feels like home away from home. All the staff was very helpful.and being off the main road it was quiet. They also have bicycles to use, which is very nice..

Room Tip: They have upstairs units and downstairs with screen porches. All rooms are non smoking but you can...

This is the place to stay. It's off the main road ..so it's nice and quiet. We stayed in a room with a living area and a full kitchen...huge master bedroom...very clean and the view from the couch was the beautiful Atlantic ocean. Couldn't say enough good things about this resort. The staff... super friendly, very helpful, kind and knowledgeable and offered great ideas of where to eat and things to do on the island. A+ all the way.

If you are looking for a low-key, friendly, and clean place in the upper Keys, then you need to check out the Ragged Edge. The rooms are kept clean, the grounds are very neat and tidy, and the entire staff is super friendly and helpful. Call and talk with Rhonda as she is very helpful with any questions or concerns. Mike "Jose" is a "hoot" and just the type of person you would expect at a place like this. Sunrises are just gorgeous, the small dock and marina make a great place to tie up your fishing boat during your stay.

Needless to say, The Ragged Edge will be in our plans during our next visit to the Islamorada area.

Been staying here for years after staying at (or looking at) most places in the Keys. This is NOT Key West and if that's what you are looking for...this ain't it. Go there or hop on a cruise line if that's what you are looking for. This is a place to come fish or just drop for relaxation. Great staff!

Room Tip: BYOB and kick back in any room

Mike and Rhonda are awesome to work with! The grounds and very well kept and absolutely beautiful. The rooms are very clean.
Downside: the beds are old and "creaky" and my husband said it hurt his back. The shower was very dark and bathroom small. There was a family in the room above us that had a herd of horses (2 boys) and they ran around constantly in room and outside our windows yelling and screaming - not exactly condusive to romance! I would recommend requesting an upstairs room!

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room if noise bother's you.
