I have grown up in the keys, but I had never been to the Theater of the Sea. When we had family in town visiting, they wanted to swim with the dolphins so I let my fingers do the walking. The first thing that I noticed is that Theater of the Sea has the youngest age that they will let the kids do the full swim with the dolphin experience and they don't reguire an adult for kids 8 and older. This was a huge savings to us because we had 3 kids ages 7,8, and 9. So technically only one adult had to do the swim with the dolphins. Of course we all wanted to do it, so that wasn't a huge deal, but somehting that I did notice. The other advantage is that they include entrance to the park with the cost of swiming with the dolphins. This was nice becuase for the same money we made a whole day out of it and the kids not only loved swimming with the dolphins, but the shows were great too. I saw a previous reviewer say that the place was run-down and dirty. We didn't see any of that, the place was nice and clean and very well taken care of. We went on a Monday after school had started so it was a bit slow for them, which was nice to have the park for ourselves. We saw the animals all receiving vet care that day, which showed us that they care for the animals. We didn't see the same dolphins doing the same events, we swam with Duffy and Stormy and watched two others (I forget their names) in the show. All in all we had a great time and the kids can't wait to go back. I am sorry that it took me 37 years to go and check it out. I highly recommend it for swimming with the dolphins and for a nice day in Islamorada.
