We spent Thanksgiving Week 2010 with a friend at her time share in Key West. I have been all over Florida but never managed tom make it to the Keys and it was a wonderful experience. Our accommodations were great, and so was the weather. Key West is home to many restaurants in all price ranges. We took a fantastic day trip by catamaran to Ft. Jefferson, a Civil-War era fort that's now a National Park in the Dry Tortugas Islands. Our boat took back to Key West 19 Cuban refugees who made it to an island near the Park - an interesting turn of events! We took another side trip to Bahia Honda State Park at mile marker 37 on US 1 (about 40 minutes north of Key West). Beaches there are unspoiled and the park boasts a remnant of the trestles that once carried Henry Flagler's railroad through the Keys. The one downside to Key West was the daily influx of cruise ship passengers who congested the small dockside area. Other than that, we had a fine time.
