An awful experience--$217 for two. This is the second time we went to 951 Steakhouse over the past two weeks. The first trip was OK, but we thought the food was mediocre and the ambience disappointing. The second trip was HORRIFIC! We both had the porterhouse steak for $45. The cut of beef was good, preparation OK, but it tasted a bit bland. The sides were unseasoned and bland--mushrooms with spinach and hash brown potatoes. Previously we also had the mac and cheese that was good, but nothing special. The ambience is the problem. For $217 you expect more than a sports bar atmosphere. You can see the flat screen TV hanging over the bar from everywhere in the restaurant. There are exposed AC ducts from the roof. The shutters are closed tight so no natural light from outside. It is dark and not especially romantic. Then there was the table of eight drunks shouting and screaming at the top of their lungs, spilling their booze and dropping the silverware and glassware on the floor--drunk out of control. The management made no effort to quiet them down. One table of four people was reseated to get away from them. Several other couples were obviously distressed by the loud and rude behavior of the "table of eight" drunk men. I spoke to the manager about it, but she made no effort to get control of the situation (nor any offer of compensation for a ruined and expensive dinner.) Disappointing food, an atmosphere like Sloppy Joes for a tab of $217, and a manager that is obviously unable to maintain a civil environment. We will NEVER EVER GO BACK HERE. We like Latitudes, Marquesa, Seven Fish--food and service are good and the clientele are not allowed to spoil other people's evening. Avoid this place--there are far better choices in Key West.
