“Fantastic place to stay on Key West!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We took a trip to Key West in February of 2012 and having never been, we decided to stay at the Marriott Beachside Resort. We were glad we did. We stayed in one of the suites and it was roomy and clean. The views out on the deck are amazing. The location is not near Duval Street which is exactly what we wanted. It's very close to the airport. They offer a shuttle ride every hour into Duval Street at Margaritaville. The beach is a bit small, but if you want to, you can easily go to Smathers Beach or one of the other public beaches. The pool was incredible and the back drop is the Gulf of Mexico. The bartenders at the pool bar were great and the front desk personnel were out of this world. We took full advantage of the buffett breakfast every morning and we would definitely stay here again whenever we get a chance to go back to Key West.

This is an outstanding property away from all the craziness of Downtown Key West. It's close enough and accessible enough to Duval Street (free hotel shuttle every hour) to get everything you need, but far enough away to feel like you are in a different world. The suite I was upgraded to is one of the nicest I've ever stayed in. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully furnished. Ours was so nice I said I'd like to live in it, not just stay there. The amenities at the hotel--the restaurant, entertainment, pool, lobby, etc., are excellent. Upon check-in we were offered a glass of champagne. Who does that? There are nice nightly specials for drinks and dinner. There is a nice bike path and a great marina within a stone's throw of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I'll be back.

Clean and comfortable luxury. The rooms, the setting, the staff, and the amenities were wonderful. I especially loved the pool side cabanas for relaxing. The shuttle bus that takes you to Duval Street every hour is one of the best amenities. No worries after having drinks! One of the best places I've ever stayed.

We stayed another night in Key West largely because of the comfort of this hotel. The beds were comfortable, service excellent. Stayed in a two-room suite. Two televisions, shuttle service to downtown attractions, lovely staff.

Hotel: As the name says, it is a beach side hotel, the building is divided into several blocks, they might not look so great from outside. We were welcomed by the great staff, thanked us for being a platinum elite, offered us champagne and informed us that he upgraded us to a three bed room suite - Thanked him for the upgrade and he showed us the map of the property explained us where is everything. The parking cost you around $20 bucks a night, pretty steep!

Rooms: We stayed in #113 and it is a 3 bedroom suite - lot of space, ideal for a family. 2 Bed rooms with King size bed and one with twin beds. Three full bathrooms and the master has a stand in shower and a Jacuzzi. Full Kitchen, dining table, great granite counter top, bar stools, decent living room with a couch and a desk. It also has a washer and dryer. The balcony has two out door cushion chairs (beach style), over looking the water. From the balcony, you can go downstairs through the stairs and you are in the beach. There are chairs and I haven't seen any rush like in any resort for reserving the chairs by throwing the towels. The water at the beach is not great, but if you are a person, who wanted to sit at the beach, enjoy the views, read a book, wanted to do some water sports this is perfect. I don't think this is a great place for you to swim!

Pool: For such a big property, I guess we need more than one pool or at least a large pool. The pool is small, great number of chairs, pool side canopy beds, towels, pool bar. The bartenders are friendly, attentive, make good drinks. During the happy hour in the evening, you get your 2nd drink free or buy two pay for one - some thing like that. Either ways, we got our 2nd drinks free!!

Restaurant on Site: We had our breakfast at Tavern N Town and people are friendly. The complimentary breakfast for elites is little bit deceiving or confusing rather. The server mentioned that this is only good for breads and fruits. If we wanted to get eggs or omelet, it cost you $5 bucks more per person. Everybody are seated in the same room and I am not sure how they control but it is little weird. We went with the full menu but it is strange because I haven't seen in any other Marriott.

In a normal Marriott property, we expect to see a concierges lounge and there is none here. So, this property is more than a hotel and less than to a resort.

The hotel also provides shuttle to the city center, very convenient, runs every hour. It gets crowded and if all of us cant fit into one bus, they bring you the second one. There is a wait but i guess it is better than driving ourselves, finding a parking spot, lot of construction and traffic is just crazy. Yes, this property is outside the busy duval street but if you wanted to stay in a property where there are amazing views - This is the place!

First time in Key West. I think this property is a time-share and not a hotel but the room we stayed in was just a hotel room. No upgrade available due to full capacity. The manager at check in was very nice and friendly. We had no view (unless you count the parking garage). The room was fine, the bathroom was nice, and the refrigerator was larger than normal, which was nice. You can control the thermostat and there's a ceiling fan, so we had no temperature issues. The gym was nice, great view of the water and good assortment of cardio machines. The pool was not too big, and the beach was really unimpressive. We had a drink at the outside bar and it wasn't very good, but it was 2 for 1 happy hour, so that made up for it. Probably one of the best things about staying there was the free shuttle service that ran from the hotel to Duvall street. It's very popular though so you want to get there early. We didn't even try to get it coming back late at night since we saw the line and didn't want to fight the crowd. Probably about a $20 taxi ride back so worth it in terms of convenience. The hotel itself isn't really near much, but we did walk back across the bridge along a bike path to a restaurant on Stock Island (pizza) that was really good and worth the walk.

This hotel is far out of the action in Key West and has NO usable beach. The "beach" is actually a sea wall and the water is murky here. There is 1 swimming pool for this large complex which is too small. The rooms, or suites, are beautiful and very well-equipped since they used to be timeshares. The exterior of the resort is dated and looks more like Motel 8 than fabulous Marriott Reward Level 8! The staff was friendly. The housekeeping service extremely slow. We arrived about 3pm and had to wait for our suite to be prepared. This should never happen to a Lifetime Platinum guest! His room should be ready first as a courtesy for his years of loyalty to the brand. We would never stay here again despite the great room. It's just too inconvenient to either wait or a bus to go into town & then get dropped off where they want to drop you, not where you want to go.....even if they pass it. Taxis get expensive.

Room Tip: All the suites are called "Presidential" so don't get too excited! Water pressure on t...
