“Amazing, remote, lovely experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Me and my husband were just married at the Marriott Beachside hotel. It was the most amazing experience! I can't imagine having my wedding anywhere else. The staff, the private beach, the sunset view....amazing. Everyone was very attentive and went above and beyond to make our stay and wedding as great as possible! We will definately be back in the future. I highly recommend it!!

Although the Beachside isn't close to downtown (ie Duval Street), the hotel offers a shuttle every hour from 8am until 11pm. The property is well landscaped and the room are very nice. but it's the service here that makes this place shine. From the moment we arrived until the shuttle driver dropped us off at the ferry back to Ft. Myers, the staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome. After the first day they knew our names and what sorts of things we might be interested in. The pool and poolside bar were fantastic with several cabanas to relax in if you wanted (or needed) to stay out of the tropical sun. The restaurant also served up great breakfasts and we even had dinner there one night because they were offering a great deal on meals.

Room Tip: Suite with a spiral staircase to the pool area.

We stayed at Marriott in April 2013. The hotel lobby is elegant and the check-in was fast. We were offered chilled champagne upon arrival. We stayed in a standard room, with pool view. The room was on the smaller size, but extremely clean and nicely furnished. They offer free internet in the rooms; the connection was fast. The bathtub was huge but the water pressure moderate. The hotel has a nice pool and jacuzzi and a very small stretch of sand .. not sure I could call that a "beach". The hotel is quite a distance away from Duval Street and Mallory Square, but they offer a free shuttle from the hotel to downtown and back. The shuttle runs every hour each direction. There is a nice restaurant on site. The food was tasty and well presented. During our stay they had an offer - have dinner at the restaurant and get breakfast free or $2,500 Marriott Points. A meal at their restaurant is comparable as price to the restaurants in Duval Street.

Calling yourself a "Beachside Hotel" leads one to expect that type of ambiance. This Marriott was nice and clean, but not what I expect from a $$$$ hotel. The lobby wasn't very large, which wasn't a problem, but in no way did it have that Marriott "wow". Nor did it seem like it belonged in a tropical area. To me, it was stuffy and not at all anything special. The rooms were accessed from outside, which is very strange for an upscale hotel.
Our room and the closet space was small. There was a mini (and I do mean 'mini') fridge, ON THE FLOOR...for this price you could at least put it on a table so I didn't have to stand on my head to get into it. No microwave, but a nice selection of coffee and tea to choose from. The tub was larger than normal, not a garden tub, but long. The pool area was nice, but the beach area where you could swim, was very small and had the jet ski rentals in there as well. They did offer a free shuttle to Duval Street, but the last pick up was at 11:20 pm. Key West is a party town and things are happening way past 11:20. This hotel is about as far away from Duval Street as you can get and still be on the island. Only 3 miles, but you don't want to walk it!
Normally I am not so nit picky about a hotel, but when it cost this much I feel I have a right. Overall, we had a great time, but would choose a hotel closer to the main area.

Quick trip to kw stayed 2 nights at the Marriott Beach side, grounds, service and room were great. Poolside had bar, towels, loungers and staff. Small waterfront beach adjacent. Upon checking greeted with champagne cocktail. Room was terrazzo tile with flat screen TV and king bed. Room and parking garage was secure. Hotel offers bus shuttle to DT district hourly and pickup 'til 11:20.
Bar & restaurant on site is pricey, but so is KW.room was $260 + $18/note parking charge.

Room Tip: Get room away from pool

Stayed at this hotel recently and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is immaculate we were in a presidential suite and it was magnificent. We had a pool view and had all the amenities one could ask for. The restaurant Tavern on the property won as a top Marriott restaurant and lived up to its expectations. It was pricey but the food was worth it. The pool was nice and the happy hour was a great deal. The free shuttle service to town was great . The only drawback was the construction surrounding the road in front of the hotel as it was not as convenient to get back from town and you had to circle around the airport. Like most of Key West the beach at the hotel was not great you had to travel to get to the good beaches. It is close to the marinas and fishing charters. All said we had an awesome time and would recommend this hotel and staff.

Room Tip: try to get upgraded to presidential suite its worth it

I am a corporate traveler and by far this is the worst ever Marriott I have ever stayed in.
1. Rooms were horribly designed
2. You cannot open the windows, you are in a dark room with no windows (if you open windows everyone walking outside or passing the corridor can see in your bedroom).
3. The bed not fixed to headboard and kept moving
4. The bed was next to a sharp cornered glass table, my son got an injury because of it.
5. There was no hot water in the morning
6. The water flow was terribly slow.
7. When I called them before my check-in I was told that parking is 12$. After reaching there, I was told it was 17.50$ a day.
8. The location of the hotel is terrible (it takes 20 mins to go to down town keywest). There is construction going on there which makes things worse.
9. The rooms were extremely noisy. Horrible design of the buildings. it takes using the hotel keys 3 times before you can enter your room.

I have taken photos for everything I mentioned on this review and will surely take up with the Marriott Management.
