Hogfish grill was recommended to us by some of the locals in Key West, and definitely lived up to its name.
First off, when you drive to Hogfish and turn left onto the road its on, you will pass through a trailer park that seems a little strange at first - you are going the right way! Just keep going!
Hogfish is open air and seating is both bar and restaurant on either side of the large bar.
There are plenty seats with a water (marina) view which make for a nice evening meal.
It is decorated with some fun in mind, and if you look around you will see some items on the wall that are sure to make you laugh!
Remember when in Rome... have the Hogfish sandwich. This is the star attraction to the menu. Don't be scared of a fish you have most likely never heard of - this fish is a treat. Buttery almost scallop like flavor (without the scallop texture, for non scallop lovers). The sandwich is huge and is piled high with onion, mushroom, cheese and a great portion of fish.
Another great item Hogfish does very well is Key West Pink Shrimp. Get some grilled, they use an amazing seasoning on theirs and in fact these were the best prepared Pinks we had in Key West, even beating out Alonzo's.
All in all, the place is different but welcoming. You will eat with locals as the majority of people that visit will be locals.
This is more a bar environment, then a restaurant so while kids are welcome - remember its very casual so don't be alarmed if you catch an ear full of fun bar talk.
Great place to visit and if you have time, you must stop in here and grab a Hogfish sandwich!!!
