I understand that the Crowne Plaza La Concha was soon to be renovated so that probably explains the glowing reviews that I read here but......what I learned from this breakfast experience is to always check and see what the food looks like before you decide to have a buffet meal. We should have been forewarned when the server made sure to tell us what the price was; we were pretty hungry at that point and were used to the higher prices that are part of being on vacation. The atmosphere was lovely and the seating comfortable but the food......not so much. There were two different types of scrambled eggs (I didn't see an omelette bar ANYWHERE) that didn't look particularly appetizing (I was told one had cheese and one did not....it was tough to tell), the breakfast potatoes were barely cooked, not a speck of brown in the hash browns. The toasters were impossibly slow and the breads were stuff you could get from the freezer section of your local grocery. The bacon was either burnt or uncooked, very little in between. The gravy for the biscuits (tiny hockey pucks) and gravy tasted ok but was a bit scary looking, lumpy and gray. We were really hungry but not hungry enough to enjoy this terrible meal....In a week of excellent breakfasts; this was our most expensive and the worst meal we had on our entire trip.
Oh and the bathrooms.....apparently there are no bathrooms actually inside the restaurant so we had to go on a scavenger hunt to find the ones upstairs by the hotel pool.To find it we had to go outside and through the Starbucks then to an elevator. When you reached the proper floor there were no signs to direct you so I got a nice tour of that floor. The bathroom itself was a single. I am glad I didn't have to wait for it.
