“A great place to stay in Key West!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We stayed at Azul recently for our first trip to Key West. We were greeted very warmly by Michael, who checked us in without any issues, and provided us with a TON of great information on local attractions and restaurants. After that, he helped with getting our luggage to our second floor pool deck room, the Claro. The room was well appointed and clean. We discovered a problem with one of the pieces of furniture having some damage, and brought it to Michael's attention, and he made a phone call and had the issue taken care of and fixed within an hour. Further conversation with Michael helped us decide some of the things we wanted to do while visiting, and when we decided the first thing to do would be a sunset schooner cruise, Michael called one of the local companies and reserved everything for us (at a discount to boot). We spent a lot of time out and about while in town, and when we came back to the room, it was like a quiet haven. Some other reviews we checked before booking here mentioned noisy air conditioners, and we agree that the AC was a little noisy, but not so much that we didn't sleep soundly. The bed was very comfortable, the breakfasts were great, and we found great conversation with another couple who were visiting from Australia. The deck and pool felt very secluded despite being surrounded by other properties, and the location on Truman Ave was great. It was close enough that we never had to get in the car after parking it at check-in, yet far enough away from the night life that we had a very quiet and restful place to come back to at the end of the day. The next time we're in Key West, we will definitely be staying at Azul again. If you're planning a getaway to Key West, you couldn't go wrong with a stay at Azul.

We loved the Azul in Key West, we were warmly greeted and had a lovely room facing the pool on the ground floor. The surroundings were beautiful and the rooms were very spacious, clean and well equipped. The breakfasts were lovely too with a good selection of fruits, cereals, toast, eggs, juices, tea and coffee. Michael who greeted us on our arrival gave us lots of information on the local area. The hotel is ideally situated in Truman Avenue, and just a short walk away to Duval Street where all the bars and restaurants are. The Azul it just far enough away from all the nightlife, bars and restaurants to be peaceful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Key West.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely.

Stayed 2nd-5th July. Arrived in torrential thunderstorm, had a little difficulty parking as car park is quite neat but then we have an enormous hire car! Gail was great, gave me an umbrella to use to get luggage inside. Check in easy, lots of info and coupons for local restaurants etc. Stayed in a pooldeck queen, on 2nd floor. Nice room with ensuite shower room, tv etc. No safe but don't let that worry you, staff are fab and you have nothing to worry about! Few things in the room were a little tired but we were pleased with the standard overall. Only thing I'd add is coffee making facilities in the room, I'm an early riser and would've liked a coffee before breakfast but it's a minor thing. Beautiful building and well cared for. Complimentary breakfast simple but tasty. Would highly recommend!

Loved Azul Key West! We stayed in a king room on the 2nd floor, Fuentes, and the room was really nice. It was so laid back and the staff was so accommodating. It was clean & modern with a historic feel. I would upgrade to a king room (like we had) because our friend stayed in a queen and it was a bit tight. We biked all day and then came back to relax in the pool. Great location on Truman, just a few blocks from Duval with a central location to bike any where. We didn't have the breakfast there but it looked nice - fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries.Check out Blue Heaven for the best breakfast in town! The only suggestion I would make is to put a larger shelf in the bathroom to keep toiletries but not a deal breaker at all. We would def. stay here again and highly recommend!!!

Room Tip: Book a king room. It is a nice size and very comfortable - worth a few more $

Spending my last night in Key West. This guesthouse is fantastic, only 10 minutes for from Duval St,close to bars and restaurants but in a quieter area. There is a nice pool and a few tables where you can enjoy breakfasts in the morning, not facing the street directly. Rooms are spacious and clean, definitely comfortable. The owner is a very nice person and very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again when in Key West!

We stayed in an upstairs king sized bedroom called Corona. It was very spacious and comfortable. The windows air conditioner noise was noticeable, but not too bad. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of hot water in the shower, with plenty of water pressure. Just be sure to follow the directions on the wall to get the hot water to work for you. You will notice the noise from the small airplanes that fly overhead, and from the scooters that race down Truman Street on their way to Duval Street. You may also notice the noise from the room above if the person staying there has heavy feet. But this is to be expected in a building over 100 years old. Breakfast is served every morning at 0800, and is prepared by Michael, a very likable and friendly staff member. The breakfast consists of plenty of fresh cut fruits, cereals, yogurts, orange juices, milk, coffee, fresh bread with marmalade and boiled eggs. All delicious! We liked the fact that this is an adults only B&B. We are past the child stage and really enjoy the adults only aspect. Azul is located on Truman Street, a somewhat busy street. It's approximately 6-7 blocks from Duval Street. It can be a long walk, especially if you plan to walk to Duval for shopping, eating and sightseeing more than once or twice a day. If you plan on making this walk 2-3 times a day, I recommend you rent some bicycles. All in all we really liked Azul, and would stay there again. Next time it will be on the top floor or a room in the back so no one is walking above us.

Room Tip: Try to get the highest floor. It's a very old building with wooden floors. People with heavy fee...

The first night of our two night stay was spent in the room named Havana Vieja. It was so small we could hardly move around and the queen size bed was peeling its leather surround & so used that half way through the night we clunked together in the middle of the bed, the springs were that bad. We spoke to Gail, who was just so kind & excellent as a receptionist. She immediately offered us a room called Captiva which was great. It was much bigger, with King sized bed and access to a wrap around balcony. Wi-fi was great, breakfast was OK but basic & the same every day. Good shower, clean towels, clean room. What was so good was their ice machine, availability of tea and coffee and their willingness to provide an ice box so that we could cool our beer & wine for later consumption. Located with walking distance (just) of Duval Street. Be aware there are more rooms than available parking spaces although we were told this has never been a problem.

Room Tip: Choose one within the main house, not one of the added on anexe rooms
