Our day trip on the Yankee Freedom III out to the Dry Tortugas was the best part of my family's Key West vacation by far! The boat was clean and comfortable. The crew was informative and fun. The snacks and food provided on the trip were great. Even my picky eaters enjoyed the food! The snorkeling around Ft. Jefferson was amazing! The tour of the fort was great! Our tour guide was fun and knew some cool facts about Ft. Jefferson and the Dry Tortugas. We will definently book this trip again!

“Nice trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

We had a great time, e crew was nice, the food was fresh (lunch food, ham, turkey, cheese, fresh fruit), the guide (Mike) was very knowledgable and friendly. The boat was clean and the drinks they serve after 2 pm were very reasonably priced, $3 for a beer (not bad). One thing I suggest is don't forget your towel, they don't tell you that on the website cause they sell theirs inboard. You can also bring a cooler with some drinks (just not alcohol ;-)). The boat was very clean? The continental breakfast was ok also. Would definitely recommend.

“Amazing trip aboard Yankee Freedom to Dry Tortugas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Absolutely fabulous! Trip was amazing. Crew was friendly, courteous and so very helpful--they enjoy what they are doing and it shows! Food was great. Breakfast had a very nice variety of fruits, cereals, bagels, bread, cream cheese, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee, and more. Lunch was a very nice variety of deli meats and cheese, assorted salads, breads, fruits and dessert. Soft drinks and water were available free throughout meal times. Water was available all day for free and soft drinks available for only $1! I thought sure we would be gouged on the price of drinks and snacks, but everything was very reasonably priced--less than at Key West! Bar opens at 2pm and those drinks were very cheap--$5 for rum punch!

Tour of the fort was very informative. Snorkel gear provided was in very good condition and crew made sure it fit well and we were instructed on proper use.

This was money very well spent and we are certainly going to do it all again very soon!

Well done Yankee Freedom, keep up the great work!

“Outstanding crew and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Our trip to the Dry Tortugas National Park aboard the Yankee Freedom III was great. Captain Rick and his dog Baylee were nice, as was the rest of the crew. We camped for two nights on Garden Key and enjoyed it even though the tent was extremely hot at night in late August.. But the Yankee Freedom crew was top notch. Would recommend this trip to anyone visiting Key West!

“Naturally Beautiful Experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

Having done this trip a few times when he was younger, my husband and his family said it is definitely a must do so he and I booked the day trip for two during our annual Key West Trip. The staff upon check in and throughout the entire boarding process was extremely friendly and informative. It is about a 2 hour boat ride out to the Dry Tortugas National Park. Breakfast was served buffet style on the trip out consisting of bagels, eggs, cereal and what not. Our Captain was extremely informative and pointed out wildlife, landmarks and also gave us a narrated tour of the history. Informative videos are played throughout the trip out and there is the option of either sitting inside in the air conditioning or on the top deck in the sun. They also open up the bow weather permitting for excellent viewing out front as well. Once we arrived, we were allowed to disembark and given the option to either take a self-guided tour around the fort or to take a guided tour. We opted for the guided tour, but decided to turn it into a self-guided tour about 10 minutes into it as we wanted to proceed at our own pace. There are plaques throughout the entire fort to lead you and give you some background information. I HIGHLY recommend climbing the turret to the roof level, the views are spectacular! A beautiful backdrop of multi-colored waters create the perfect picture taking environment, especially with a GoPro! Lunch was served around 11, which allowed for exploring the fort at your own pace, boarding the boat for lunch in the air conditioning then going for a snorkel! Snorkel equipment was handed out on the dock right outside the boat and this was the most wildlife I saw our entire trip, which consisted of three separate snorkeling trips. We saw a HUGE stingray, about 3' to 4' across and spanning longer than us. There were minimal jellyfish which surprised us as it jellyfish season. The only unnerving part of the trip was the abundance of barracuda we saw while snorkeling. They are lighter colored as compared to the ones I've seen closer to the reef and were at a minimum length of 2 feet. We saw at least 5 that we counted. As long as you leave them alone and cover your sparkly jewelry they wont mistake you for a fish and will leave you alone. The Captain recommended snorkeling over to the pilings to the right of the ship and as we got closer to them the corals were more and more beautiful, with more and more wildlife as well. We didn't make it all the way out due to the barracuda, but if you're brave enough I suggest it! The ride back was a little wavy in the channel but overall pleasant, with a cash bar and friendly service! Would highly recommend this trip.
