The location was perfect to kick off the Mallory Square sunset celebration. We were sat in the outdoor seating area across from the main restaurant building near the fountain. Our server was prompt- he was very clear and helpful in explaining the food and he was very friendly. The drinks were great and the food even better. It was a good experience for trying cuban food fof the first time!
We just returned from a week in Key West and we really enjoyed the food at El Meson de Pepe. Although we ate at other really good restaurants (Cafe Marquesa, Mangoes, Fogerty's, Bagatelle, Grand Cafe, etc.), the food at El Meson de Pepe was the most memorable. In fact, we even stopped by for take-out on our last day so we'd have more than lousy pretzels to eat on the plane! We highly recommend it.
I have never felt like a regular after one visit like I have here. El Mason De Pepe is a must stop. Excellent food and wonderful people!!!
My friend and I had the occasion to visit El Meson on 12 May 2005 and were pleasantly surprised ... by both the cats and the chickens ... and even more by the mojitos ... good drinks, good food, and great photoz
We return to Key West nearly every year and always eat at El Mason de Pepe. The prices are great and the portions are huge. Try the Cuban sampler and you will have enough for two people. The wine list is inexpensive and unpretentious. We have always had good service and will continue to go back.
