I was recently picking up a load, south of Miami, when my dispatch called and told me it would be an extra day. I had always wanted to go to Key West and try a mojito, so I dropped my trailer and bobtailed down 1 south. I got a cab into downtown and asked the driver to find me a good mojito. He took me to Pepe's and told me they were the best in town. I was seated outside by an excellent waiter, and fell in love with the charm. I had the plantain nachos and a mojito, they were excellent, but what really did it was the bread and two dipping sauces. One was Mojo and the other was a hot sauce (but not too hot) made with tabasco. I left there with a smile on my face that stayed for hours. The waiter also told me stories about the wild chickens and cats and the origins of some of the dishes. I hope to get back there someday soon and try something else. I'm also afraid to get back to Canada and try another mojito. I'm afraid it will fall short and ruin my wonderful memory of an excellent day.
