Yes, the title is correct. This is possibly the best food on the face of the earth. Even if you do not like Mexican food, you will enjoy everything about Salsa Loca. Nancy (the owner) is a sweetheart and her staff are without a doubt the best on the Island. Ask her what her secret is and she will say, "The people I surround myself with especially my Chef, Paco." For the record, I have never in all of my life written a review for a restaurant. Furthermore, I have only just visited Salsa Loca on my last trip to the Keys. I just feel this compassionate about this quaint little magical place. Do not judge this place by its cover. Let me explain that last statement. I was walking by Salsa Loca with my wife when I noticed what seemed to be an affordable place to eat (the menu is posted out front), so I looked in and only saw a few people sitting inside. This is usually a bad sign, especially in Key West but my wife said, "lets give it a try, I have a real good feeling about this place". We walked in and found to our surprise that there was an entire seating arrangement out back on the patio and it was standing room only. We were seated at the bar on the patio, I ordered a Margarita and my wife had Sweet Ice Tea. I was informed that the Margarita was made with wine products and not Tequila, I was a little hesitant but decided to give it a try, this too was Outstanding. My wife took one sip of her Ice Tea and I could tell by the look on her face that she was in Heaven. She couldn't believe that she found a place that actually served real Ice Tea, not to mention how sweet it was. She used the term Southern Ice Tea, it reminded her of her child hood and a neighbor lady who made the best Ice Tea she ever had. We all have those childhood memories about something. Thank You, Salsa Loca for helping my wife remember something so special to her. Well from there we were seated in a very timely fashion. Our waiter (Alan) was outstanding, I felt like we were old friends by the time we left. I am a people watcher and I really enjoyed observing peoples reactions to how good the food was. I especially enjoyed observing the owner, Nancy make her way around to all the tables and interact with most of the customers. I went out of my way to motion her over to thank her personaly for such a wonderful experience and before I knew it, my wife and I talked to Nancy for the better part of an hour. If Alan was an old friend than Nancy must be family. I was also introduced to the other hand picked members of the team. I don't feel comfortable calling them waiters, waitresses, bus boys or cooks. They are all part of an extrordinary Team and Paco is not just a cook or a chef, he works Magic with items that by themselves appear to be ordinary. If you spend any amount of time in Key West and end up feeling like you spent to much money and have nothing of any real value to take home with you, stop in at Salsa Loca and take home some great memories and a little bit of Magic.
