This little museum, essentially two small rooms tucked away behind the Conch Train Station and a gift shop, could easily be skipped over. But if you have any interest in trains, Florida history, or the grandiose wishes of an eccentric millionaire, this is a short but worthwhile stop in Key West.
The museum includes videos, historic photos, interesting artifacts like conductors' uniforms and the china and silverware passengers were served meals on. It also tells the story of the many lives lost in completing Flagler's (sort of) successful vision to connect Key West with the mainland by train, spanning hundreds of miles of ocean and the keys - a structure that the Overseas Highway now literally runs over.
