“Great for $5”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2015 NEW

We went to this Darian a construction time so we were able to enter for just five dollars. For five dollars we were very happy with the grounds in the experience as well as the history behind it all. I think Fort Zachary Taylor is a more interesting grounds to discover, but having some individual store cool stories including Robert the doll and the crazy mad scientist story here made it interesting. It's a good stop on a bicycle or scooter ride around Key West.

“Fabulous gardens...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2015 NEW

Bordering Higgs Beach is a lovely brick edifice hiding behind the walls a lovely peaceful garden with lush and somewhat rare foliage. It is a great place to just "be"....free with only a donation request if one desires.

“Nice Break from the Sun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2015

My daughters ages 10 and 9, my wife and I visited this due to a recommendation of a local friend. This is a good place to drop into if you seek some shade and tranquility.

WHY YOU'D LIKE WEST MARTELLO TOWER
1. Low cost. You can give a donation. We happily dropped a few dollars into the bin to experience this.
2. Shady and peaceful. It's amazing how much of a difference trees make! It's several degrees cooler and much more comfortable in the Tower grounds. It's not very crowded and there are lots of places to sit.
3. Water cooler. There's a water cooler within the fort to refill your bottle or get a refreshing glass of water.
4. Foliage. Beautiful trees and plants.
5. Fun to explore. It's not a large site but there is a lot to see if you take the different paths.
6. Easy to park the car.

“An Oasis of Beauty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2015

I love coming here to photograph. It's a nice filler activity before or after dinner. As I was photographing a statue of a crane, it suddenly started moving. Yes it was real, lots of wildlife and plant life.
