My friend and I were recommended this restaurant so we decided to try their lunch menu. We stepped into the doorway and were completely ignored. There was no way anyone could miss us since we are both African-American and he is 6'5" tall. We went ahead and sat ourselves on the veranda and waited, and waited, and waited for someone to bring us a menu. We watched while a Caucasian couple was greeted and seated behind us with menus and water glasses. I finally hailed down the waitress who looked surprised to see us and retrieved some menus. Finally a different surly waitress with a dour expression and arms folded across her chest introduced herself and took our order. She eventually warmed up when I suppose she realized we spoke proper English, and were not going to skip out on the bill. The food was excellent and the property very charming, but the service is straight out of Mississippi 1963. My suggestion: Crabby Dick's: great service, great food.

There menu was not what I had expected. There wasent much to choose from and for what they did had it seemed quiet expensive for the amount of food you'd get. Sit outside the atmosphere is great. The service was not the best, the waitress seemed tired, and busy, with no time for us and not the friendliest. I would suggest going to Denny's before coming here!

Had a great lunch here on a rainy Cinco de Mayo.
The menu is fairly extensive, and the food was quite good.
The service could have been better, as the attractive wait staff seemed bored or preoccupied. Maybe they were put off by the rain?
Definitely would return.

Just got back from a trip to Key West and wanted to tell others about the Banana Cafe. Had lunch here and was great, good food (especially goats cheese crepe with caramilised apples), good portions and good service. Was nice to have something different to typical Florida Keys menus.
