My husband and I have been to Sloppy Joes many times before and love the entertainment, especially Pete and Wayne. On our last trip we sat at the main bar on our trip and were appalled at the service by one of our bartenders. When the couple next to us left, the bartender(said she was from New Jersey) complaind about the tip to the other bartender for 5 minutes. We heard it all, she was basically right in front of us! It was hard to listen to. On top of that we had bad service from her. We wanted to enjoy the show and were taking our time eating and we were made to feel like we were taking space at her bar. She rushed us on everything. I am sad to say, I was put off by the experience. Being a former bartender, I love good service, even satisfactory service. I would have loved to see look on her face when she saw that we stiffed her, and feel sorry for the customers that had to listen to her next. Loved the Nachos and Burgers though.
This is a fun place if you're looking for a lively crowd. The food was good. I had a hamburger that was very tasty. The music was too loud for conversation, but most seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I enjoyed the atmosphere even though the bartenders act like pre-madonna's. I understand that several act that way.
We had nachos - awful. This is just a place to hang out and watch the drunks go by.
We've visited SJ's many times and this visit was very disappointing. We had the nachos which were served stone cold. We sent them back and the 2nd one was the same way! The cheese was not even melted on the top. There were actual shreds of cheese on top of cold chicken and chips. TERRIBLE! We had to ask for it to be taken off our tab. No free beer to compensate they just acted like we were the PIA's!! There are lots of places to get great food and I wouldn't bother with SJ's again. Another point, the beer is 50 cents more than just about anywhere else. Go to Capt. Tony's for a nice cold, reasonably priced beer.
