I am a local and have been to Chico's several times mostly because I get nostalgic for my food and get tired of cooking. They have some pretty good items, but some are too commercialized. And, if it weren't for the prices I would go more often. However, there is another local (very authentic) Mexican restraunt in the middle of the island catering to locals (not on Duval) with prices half of Chico's. Back to Chico's, if you eat an item with beef, I recommend the shreaded instead of the ground. It's worth the extra two dollars. Haven't had their chile relleno. When I first asked for it, I was told the chef doesn't do them all the time because they are too complicated.

I guess the other reviewer has not visited Salsa Loca - a FAR better Mexican restaurant. in Key West. Chico's serves pseudo-Mexican fare, poorly seasoned and inauthentic. It resembles Cuban food (which is delicious in its own right) more so than true Mexican. Avoid this place!

It is located on US 1 on Stock Island just b/4 going into Key West.
They have an extensive menu. We've been several times over the last three years and it was always very good. We're going to Key West in October and we will definitely go to Chico's again. It's one of the two stops we always make usually more than once, along with Lobo's Grill downtown.
