“High quality seafood without breaking the bank.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013 via mobile

We took a trip to Key West truncated version of a Boardwalk and ate at A & B Lobster House. It has a downstairs restaurant called Alonzo's Oyster House and a Cigar bar called Berlin's. In any event we chose the upscale A & B Lobster part of the wharf complex. It was a wood paneled, wood shuttered dining room it had outstanding service. The food was very good. My wife went with the seafood bisque as an appetizer and a very large serving of sea scallops. It was a ridiculous amount for the price. I went for two appetizers for my entree and started with a salad. The two small plates were the crab cake and a pair of large scallops. I was warned the crab cakes were not like "Maryland" style and had filler. I was not surprised when this "good" cake arrived. The scallops were excellent with just a bit too much key lime aioli. I suggest getting it on the side. All in all a nice meal with a nicely priced bottle of wine. Well Done

“Did Not Eat Here! Best Attraction Around Though!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

I can't believe the 4pm daily Tarpon feeding doesn't have a listing of its own! We had been given a list by a local of things to "Not Miss" and the feeding was on the list. We showed up about 3:40 and looking down saw about 12 Tarpon, all seemingly over 6' milling around below. I got a great picture of nine pelicans hanging together at the end of that side of the dock. Even though there is a sign right there advising the feeding at 4pm, many people came by asking what was happening. We had a super spot and continued to photograph the many types of fish below as time drew closer. These fish can tell time! Two men in A&B shirts came through and I asked if they were the fish feeders. One man said that day it was his turn to spray water on the pelicans to keep them from stealing all the fish parts about to be tossed over the edge. Vern and I both took still photos and videos and it's just an amazing thing to see. If you have to miss a 4pm activity, don't let it be this one! Fantastic views of fish we'd never have a chance to see in the wild. Many had remora cleaning their backs, awesome! Darn, the video of the frenzy would not upload.

“Lovely place, beautiful atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

We visited A&B recently, November, 2013, on a Saturday night. Our reservations were for 7, but arriving early, we decided to sit in the bar for a drink first.

"Berlin's" is a cigar bar, with very good ventilation. We are not smokers, and no one around us was a smoker, so we were comfortable and happy. We moved to the restaurant to finish our drinks when smokers sat next to us. The hostess kindly had held our table and we sat to dine.

The ambiance is casual elegance, with tables on the marina and also indoor tables. We chose an indoor table, because it was a windy evening. Our waiter was great, but the food was nothing to write home about. The scalloped potatoes were SO garlicy, they were left on the plate. We had one lobster dinner and one filet dinner, with a shared clam chowder soup. When looking at the other tables, we noticed the wait staff always said "how do you want your steak? Medium?" The suggestion was placed, and made us wonder if Medium was the best?? Steak and lobster were OK, but nothing special. Prices were not bad, and with 2 drinks each and our dinners and soup, our bill was just above $100 for 2.

If you are a non smoker, and smoke offends you, do not enter this place through the bar. Also when using the rest rooms, you must go through the bar. When we left, we chose to go through Alonzo's below, which is a good way to avoid the smoke.

“Relaxed Dinner at a Classic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

We've been meaning to try this place, but always seem to end up at the latest trendy spot or comfortable favorite haunts. After watching the sunset at Mallory Square, we decided we'd try A&B for a quiet meal. We had a drink at the bar first, with hubby getting a perfect Manhattan from the bartender. Once seated, our waiter greeted us, told us about specials and gave us some time to relax and enjoy the harbor view. I enjoyed my sea scallops, which were cooked just right. My hubby had a seafood pasta that had a little spice to it. He really liked it, but the serving was more than plenty, so we went home with leftovers. It was a nice, quiet evening, which is sometimes hard to find in KW. The bar area looks very "clubby", and the inside is a little more formal in appearance compared to the outside area. We will come back next time we are in town.
