We have been wanting to try this place for months but we can never seem to find time when we are in Key West because there are so many great places to eat. We finally made it a point to give Michaels a try. We have heard numerous times people raving about their fondue.
We figured it must be great since the have an entire menu dedicated to it. We sat at the bar since we knew we were just going to have a drinks and a snack. We all got a glass of wine and asked the bartender the recommendation on fondue since we had to narrowed down to two. She recommended the Chile Pepper one since it had a kick to it. We went with it. It came out with a HUGE plate of fruits, veggies, meats and anything you could ask for. We were so excited it looked amazing. Much to our disappointment it was AWFUL. It literally had zero flavor it just tasted like melted gruyere. It had no kick not even a hint of pepper. All three of us agreed. We maybe ate 25% of it and most of the just because we are the fruit off the plate. The bartenders never asked how it was. Even when the cleared the plate seeing the most of it was still left. We then got our check $86.00 for an appetizer and one glass of wine each for 3 people is ridiculous! Don't get me wrong I eat what I want regardless of the price because I love food. I really wish this was a better experience for food and service because the rest of the menu really looked incredible. But I really don't think I will be back, first impressions really say it all for me.
