Having been born in Key West (yes..., I am a conch), I have always been obsessed with Key Lime pie, so before our trip we watched all the Food Network Key Lime pie showdowns, and this was the runner-up (but a lot of people said it was the best), and seeing as the winner went out of business before our trip, this was a must visit. We were warned their would be big lines so we went at an off time and got sat quickly, although snarky because we wouldn't leave our stroller with the hostess, we were sitting outside and it is a small umbrella one that had all of our toddlers clothes/wipes/etc. It wasn't very busy, so it didn't seem like an issue for me.
There was a live band playing (we were outside), and the chickens were in full force with their baby chicks, one pecked the lady at the next table, bleeding pecked...
Service was slow and tables that came after us got serviced quicker (not fun with a hungry toddler). We really came for the pie, and the bottom was really good (filling & crust), but i am a true believer that merguine has no business on top of a key lime pie, so my hubby ate that. The banana bread was very good, but very small for the price, and we also got yogurt $$$ for small vanilla.
Not sure if I would of had a better impression of the prices if we had more than snacks and drinks, but it was one of the more expensive meals and it wasn't even a full meal (and we ate a lot of seafood on this trip at other places!).
Good pie, but probably wouldn't go back for the prices.
