My husband and I sought out this restaurant after asking at our bed and breakfast for a good Cuban place for lunch. We walked in and were immediately seated in an empty restaurant. Maybe we were just too early for the crowds - to our advantage! El Maison de Pepe is decorated as expected with a lot of references to Cuban history and is attached to a small gift shop. We both ordered the Cuban sandwich. I had plantain chips with mine and the husband ordered fries. The meal was accompanied by 2 kinds of mojo. The sandwich was according to my husband "the best he's ever eaten." I concur. The bread was crunchy, the meat and cheese, delectable. The plantains were crispy and hot and utterly delicious when dipped into the mojo. Our drinks were delivered promptly and our waiter was pleasant and hospitable.
