“very expensive for what you get”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

While a sign proclaims that Key West is VERY SAFE, the house and front gate are kept locked at all times. There is no one on the site after late afternoon so this can cause problems. The room was average with absolutely zero charm. The very small tv, mounted on a black bracket high in a corner had several wires hanging down...and it did not work. The little frig was so loud that I just disconnected it. Breakfast, which strangely for a B&B was labeled " complimentary continental" was served from only 8:30-9:30. There was no phone in the room and no computer available for use. Owners were polite but not outgoing in any manner.

This individual booked at the Curry House because of our relatively low prices. He has no interest in the historic and architechural value, and the strategic location, in the heart of old town.

The location is great; the staff is friendly & helpful; the breakfast is delicious; the pool is clean & heated; the decor is charming. But the paint is fading; the plumbing is old and shaky; the interior is a bit dark; and the welcome a bit lacking if you arrive after normal working hours. If it is after the sun goes down, you may have a problem finding the key hole on the front door--the front porch light was out while we were there. Do not confuse this B&B with the Curry Mansion! 2 very different experiences even just from the outside.

This was our first stay at the Curry House. We have stayed other places closer to Mallory Square. We initially chose the Curry House because it was $50 less per night than where we had been staying the past few years. We were a group of three couples.

What we didn't like: Parking is limited (I know, it's Key West) but we lucked out. We found a spot across the street after we unloaded the van.

Our room was a little stuffy when we first got it, but the window A/C quickly cooled the room down, and seemed to keep the humidity in check.

The porch light was on most of the night. A room darkening shade might have helped.

A few of us were early birds, and if we wanted the hot breakfast, we had to wait until 8:30.

What we liked: Location. This is a great location. A few blocks off Duval St. and about 4 blocks from the harbor. Also, closer to the southernmost area of the island.

Hot breakfast. Each day was a different offering and was nicely prepared (to order, if appropriate) and presented.

Pool. Although sunlight is limited in the pool area it is heated. This was our fifth trip to Key West in December, but was the first time we were able to use a pool. Nice amenity.

The rooms were nice. Probably not the best place in town, but clean and adequate.

The staff was very nice.

We'll stay here again.

Ideal/great location just off Duvall Street at the centre of the "original old Key West"
Very friendly making you feel part of their family
Views from the top of the house are sensational and whilst in the house it takes you back to the early 1900's.
Even though you are in the middle of Key West and the busy Duvall Street you feel "miles away" and relaxed.
Their cocktails evening is an experience not to miss!

My husband and I have stayed in numerous places in Key West, and this is one of our favorites! It's a beautiful old house that has been made into a cute bed and breakfast. The rooms are decent sizes, although the bathrooms are quite small. The pool area is just beautiful, and the setting is very peaceful. Breakfast is served on the patio in the mornings, and it's always something hot and fresh - eggs, pancakes, etc. The choices vary by the day. The staff is friendly and accommodating. And overall, this is just a peasant place to be! It's a few blocks off Duval Street, but it's a pretty easy walk to the main drag. We will definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed our time at The Curry House. Lois was great and cooked up some great breakfasts while we were there. She even asked if we were adventurous eaters - we are - and she made banana bread French toast one morning - it was wonderful.
We stayed in room #2 - very nice space with a balcony overlooking the back yard / pool area.
The house is situated close enough for a nice walk to Duval street - but in a quiet neighborhood. Perfect.

Room Tip: Room #2 has its own private bathroom - which is what we prefer. Just be aware that some have shared...

A friend and I stayed one night at the Curry House on October 16, 2013 and really enjoyed our stay. It's a beautiful old house offering 9 guest rooms on a very quiet side street in Old Town but just a short walk to Duval St. and Mallory Square. There is a gate outside and you are buzzed in. Our room was #7 on the third floor, up two flights of stairs. Pretty green walls and a veranda (shared with the next room) overlooking the heated pool, a king size bed, private bath and shower and dresser. It was hot outside but our air conditioner was quiet and kept the room nice and cool. There wasn't air conditioning downstairs since we weren't down there it really didn't matter to us. Breakfast was served at tables poolside and was prepared when you came downstairs in the morning. I could choose between a Cheese omelette or Ham and Cheese omelette. Also included was orange juice, a croissant, seasoned hash browns, a piece of watermelon and 2 pieces of pineapple. A very pretty and tasty plate! Coffee and tea were available as well. My friend was going snorkeling early so they made sure she had a muffin to take with her on her walk to her destination since she wouldn't be there for breakfast. They also let her use the shower and bathroom located off the hall downstairs when she got back since it was after we had checked out. I went out walking to see the sights for a couple of hours and then came back and sat for a bit on the front porch. One of the sightseeing trains passed right by the house. We were lucky to get free on street parking right across the street and didn't need to move the car at all while there for 2 days. The Curry House is a very nice B&B with a great location; quiet with a very comfortable bed. I would stay here again on my next trip to Key West.
