Change inevitably comes with time, and after many decades the heirs to the Porter family sadly closed the legendary family museum for tours and sold the Key West Heritage House in 2010. But the good news is that the property is preserved by a new owner in its authentic beauty and is currently privately maintained. The museum does not have regular hours at the moment, but may open its doors again for tour with a nominal donation.
With change, new doors always open, and you now have the unique opportunity to stay in a famous family residence, right on the grounds of the Heritage House, as a monthly or seasonal rental. Situated on the parameter of the historic Heritage House property, the authentic 2-story Caribbean cottage-style home is full of authentic island charm and offers a swimming pool too. If you want to experience the real old time Key West, right were the island was first settled, this is an opportunity to really live a bit of the island’s heritage.
