“Cute, Quaint, Romantic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2009

We went down for a Biker event in September. All our friends stayed at the Southermost. The Southermost means it's the Most Southern you can get from the main strip in Key West that is Duval Street. Poinciana Place is close to the action, but tucked away to give some seclusion and privacy. We walked to Sloppy Joes, Hogs Breath Saloon, and Mallory Square with no problem. We stayed in downstairs suite. It was neat, clean, and although we didn't need the kitchen, that would come in handy on an extended stay. Loved the private hot tub, the bed was comfortable, and the tropical feel of the backyard was very nice. If you're looking for a fancy hotel, this is not for you. If you want a unique, true Key West feel, and not a contrived corporate environment, you'll be more than please. Looking forward to next year. Any time we're thinking of going to Key West, we'll be sure to call Carolyn and try to stay at one of their Lazy Lane Cottages.

The place was great! We stayed in the Treetop Unit. Service from Bruce the owner was above and beyond expectations! The place was spotless and very nicely appointed. Bruce was always available for questions and assistance! The place is off the beaten path but close to everything. The neighbors were "colorful" but polite and freindly. We were never concerned for our safety and the property was secure. The garden was beautiful! Thanks Bruce! We will be back!!!

We booked this hotel a little last minute, but we were absolutely thrilled with everything! There were fresh flowers in the room, everything was spotless. The air conditioner worked great, there was a nice full kitchen, and it was really cozy.
One thing I've learned when you read these reviews is that you can't take people's word for everything unless you know what type of lifestyle/accomodations they are used to. My husband and I definitely l ike to travel in style, and I'm sure we could have spent a fortune on a big beach front condo or a giant hotel, but we preffered to stay somewhere a little more cozy, with more personality, and comfort, and then just spend the money doing more fun stuff! So for us, this place was great, and we still didn't feel like we were lowering any sort of living standard whatsoever! In fact, this place seemed to really personify the spirit of Key West. We loved it!
The backyard has the most gigantic Poinsiena tree that was just bursting with flowers, and there was a cute little cat that came and lounged on the front porch. One thing that might have been a little nicer is the bathroom/tub/getting ready area- pretty small and cramped, but it still was clean and served it's purpose. This place has everything you need for a nice stay- including a hot tub outside- although why anyone would want to sit in a hot tub in Florida is beyond me! LOL!
Getting around from this place was really easy- we just parked our car, and rented bicycles for the week- they came and dropped off and picked up the bikes- done!

We are a young-ish couple with no kids- and we like to get our drink on now and then, but we don't usually get too crazy- But when it's time to sleep, it's time to sleep- so the location of the house was perfect- far enough away from the center of things, that it was really nice and quiet- but close enough that it wasn't a long haul from all the stuff we did. (I will say, however, that we spent many a night aimlessly pedaling around the neighborhoods, because we kept getting lost... couldv'e been the alcohol....:) All in all, we couldn't have been more pleased- it fit our requirements wonderfully, and we are looking to come back and stay again in September of this year.

I'm a little late in posting this since my trip was in December, but I had to comment on our stay. We stayed in the Tree Top unit of Poinciana Place and I cannot say enough about it. The condo was clean, more than comfortable for 2 people, within walking distance to just about all of Key West, and definitely worth the price. Bruce (the owner) goes out of his way to make his guests feel welcome and to ensure that we have just about everything we need. He even washes the shower and hot tub towels!! Having a washer/dryer and a gas grill are also a bonus. Poinciana Place is amazing and we can't wait to stay there again.

I would like to let everyone know that if they were planning a trip to Key West, Fl. and are going to stay at Poinciana Place, you are among the luckiest people in the world. Bruce the owner of Poinciana Place has a property that is suited for relaxation, romance, and fun. Bruce has thought about everything, it started to sprinkle one afternoon and there was an umbrella in the closet. The is a wonderful gas grill in the public area, spices in the kitchen, fresh flowers on the table, and the condo was just 2 short blocks from Duval Street. Bruce is very un-intrusiveness in his care while we there. Bruce had a map of the area on the front room table when we checked in as wel as a pass for the state beach. We are already planning our next trip back and will only stay at Poinciana Place while in Key West.

We spent one week here and had a great time. Walked to all points in Key West from here. The pass to the state park and the use of the beach chairs was just one way that the owner of this place thinks of everything. We had such a great time we are planning to return next November for hopefully 2 weeks.

  • Liked — Having a complete "house" and location
  • Disliked — very tight parking- but we were happy to have free parking in Key West

Cant say enough about how wonderful Poinciana Place is! We loved everything about it. Matter of fact, we just booked our second stay here for November. Bruce is very accomodating, and helpful, as is Caroline. It is on a quiet little lane, with nice residents along it, always a hello. It is very private, comfertable, and convient to everything, Duval Street, Faustos Grocery, bike rentals, ect...and the passes for the park along with beach chairs and towels. The things we require; off street parking, internet , and washer & dryer are all here, along with much, much more.
After years at that other place, it feels like home here, and we plan on making it ours twice a year. We are recommending Poinciana Place to all our friends that go to Key West.
