We drove from Miami to Key West (thought we'd do a "wing it" vacation)--we're from Kansas--and Feb 14th everything seemed booked and very pricey--well we ran into Duvall Gardens and she happened to have a room with 2 queens and would even take $10 off--what a lovely lady and lovely room (100% better than the one we had just stayed in- in Miami for the same $$) Great walking distance to all the Duvall Street shops/restaurants/pubs and front porch a great place to people watch. Also had continental breakfast on the front porch--basics, juice-fruit-bagels-great breads, hardboiled eggs and tons of coffee--I think I drank a pot myself. It was also nice just talking to the other guests on the porch and hearing their stories. Also got us a parking spot which is hard to get. Only negative which is really not---wouldn't really consider pool a pool--so if you're teens are looking for big pool you need a resort.
