“We keep returning!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2008

We just returned from our fourteenth trip to Oasis and Coral Tree Inn. On every trip to Key West, we stay at this establishment.

While we have to admit that the premises has become a bit "tired" in appearance, it was apparent after this trip that renovations are in progress. When the owners acquired Coconut Grove next door, that property was a disaster! This trip we asked to see the renovations there and were thrilled at the attention to detail that has gone into refurbishing the property. The owners assured us that the Oasis and Coral Tree Inn rooms will also be getting major renovations in the coming months.

While it is always nice to get back to someplace familiar, there are a few things that can be updated. For instance, the exact same breakfast items have been available during every visit. The cycle of appetizers and mixed drinks served during the afternoon has also not changed.

We continue to go back to this place because we do enjoy the surroundings and always meet friendly people. It's a great place to have a relaxing vacation or to meet new friends.

  • Liked — Always a pleasure to return to see our friends at Oasis
  • Disliked — Rooms starting to show need of refurbishing.

A very interesting place! A real mix of people and extremely friendly.

The accommodation itself is fine, some rooms are a bit dated but they are clean and functional. Daily cleaning etc was very good.

Each afternoon there were free cocktails and canapés. The free breakfast was basic (not a cooked breakfast) but fine.

You really go here to meet all sorts of people and have fun. Each evening we went out for dinner with other people, then to the bars and then back to the pool!

A tip, if you like early nights avoid a room by the pool.

I think this is the type of holiday that depends on who you meet there and if you make friends. We did and had a great time - will certainly be going back!

  • Liked — The people
  • Disliked — The room could have been more modern (it appears they are gradually upgrading)

The seven-pool three properties combination is definitely a big draw -- since you're hanging out with naked people a lot, you may choose the crowd you want to be with.

The staff was efficient but not particularly warm. Especially when we asked for entertainment/travel ideas -- they don't seem to want to say much.

My room (and bathroom) was clean, spacious and comfortable. The pools and common area are well maintained. You can always see someone cleaning something. The sun decks are high up have great views. We've even enjoyed star gazing there at night.

Since the early 1980's, I have been returning to Key West twice a year, and always to the Oasis. Since 1992, when the Coral Tree Inn opened for business, I stay there, exclusivley.
The staff at this group of three guest houses, the Oasis, Coral Tree and Cocoanut Grove, are not only charming and kind, they do their job as unobtrusively as possible. You rarely have the feeling that the staff is there, things just get done. The wonderful breakfast buffet, the cocktails by the pool, and the h'ors d'oevre, of sorts, are all fine. My favorite aspect, though, is the fact that you can join in with the groups of guests, or stay by yourself and read. The rooms in the Oasis and Coral Tree need a refreshing, but they are always clean and ready for your arrival. I have stayed at other gay resorts in other cities, but my heart truly belongs to the Coral Tree in Key West. I will be returning this year in August, and look forward to another realxing and fun stay.

We just returned from another stay at the Oasis, Coconut Grove, Coral Tree Inn complex in Key West. This is my second trip to the area and I found this trip to be very relaxing. The office staff was friendly, and the housekeeping was great also. We met many very friendly people from other areas of the US and a few foreign countries. I do plan to return, as this is our guest house of choice while staying in Key West.

Breakfast was served every morning. There was a great variety of foods to choose from including English muffins, bagels, yogurts, cakes, coffee, and a variety of juices. In the early afternoon, the staff prepared frozen drinks at 3:00 and 4:00 pm. These cocktails were a refreshing break from the afternoon heat. As if these were not enough, at 6:00 pm daily, the staff served finger foods with wine. Just enough to take the edge off until you were able to get to dinner. This time allowed you the chance to meet others from the complex that you may not have met yet.

There was an issue with another guest that I witnessed. The guest dropped his room key under the porch. Wayne, the maintenance man who lives on site 24-hours a day to handle any emergency, was woke up at 2:30 AM to retrieve the key. He did this with his usual upbeat attitude. This is what I call customer service.

Jerry, Jorge, Todd, Dan, Cinderella, Wayne, and the rest of the staff do a wonderful job to make you feel right at home.

  • Liked — I like the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. I also enjoyed the ease at which the other guests talked to everyone.
  • Disliked — I honestly had no problem with the facility or the staff.
