“Expensive, yes. Worth it? YES!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

First, the bad: the rooms are on the small size, and quite expensive. Some don't even have private baths. Mine did, but it also faced the street, and was thus a bit noisy. I am sure those that face the pool also have their noise issues. I did not have any of the cleanliness issues that other reviewers have complained about. Also, a damaged curtain I complained about was never repaired. The food is excellent, extraordinary in fact, but also kind of expensive. The hotel is a long walk from Duvall Street, but who cares: there are nothing but breeder tourists down there anyway.

Second, this is a clothing-optional gay resort with a VERY cruisy atmosphere, an atmosphere that is openly encouraged by the management. If that is NOT what you are looking for, then stay away. I am tired of reading all these reviews by people who knew what they were getting into, stayed there, and complained about it anyway. This is the ISLAND HOUSE. What were you expecting? It's not a convent. It's a bathhouse with hotel rooms.

Third, if that IS what you are looking for, it can be the experience of a lifetime! You will get laid here. Multiple times! I did! Safe sex implements are complimentary. (Use them, please!) The pool has better eye candy than the best go-go joints around. The hot tub is a nice, friendly (VERY friendly) place to hang. (Actually, there are two of them.) The gym is well equipped (and the only place you must wear clothes.) And the "red room" or "chapel"? Enter horny, leave satisfied.

Also, I had no problem with "snobby" guests. I made lots of new friends here, and still am in contact with a lot of them. They come here from all over the country. The service is excellent, attentive, and friendly. I had a wonderful stay, and so will you.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. Many are subject to noise, either from the street or the pool.

This experience definitely worth it and i can not wait to come back! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They were able to help us as it was our first time in key west. Gave us good directions and the place was kept clean. The bartenders, servers and staff were very nice and made us feel at home. Coming from a busy city, having a relaxing atmosphere with a 24/7 amenities available, helped us unwind when we wanted to and there is also a 24/7 cafe which has great food. We even made good friends which we met in the hotel as well as to go to town and even had a better time touring the keys in a catamaran. We ask the front to help us with transportation and they recommended renting a bike. Best suggestion ever as it help us familiarize with the city and even see places without the hassle of traffic. We were able to go to the southern most part, higgs beach, fort zachary, duval street and even saw Hemmingway house. Overall, i am definitely suggesting this place and and i can not wait to come back. It may just stole my heart from NYC.

Room Tip: rent a bike, its definitely worth it!

We decided to stay at this place with the help of TripAdvisor reviews, and we were not disappointed. The room is clean and nicely decorated. The staff were all friendly and nice. The facility was great. It's not too far from all the tourist attractions (within a walking distance; 10-15 min). The in-house restaurant offers a variety of tasty dishes and the prices were comparable to nearby restaurants. You can spend the entire vacation without leaving the resort if that's what you desire. Most, if not all, guests are very friendly and it's not difficult to make new friends. In fact, we made a number of new friends here.

Island House is conveniently located about 10 min from the Key West airport. The only down side would be the price. It's on the high side but it's worth it. Would come back again and would recommend this place.

Room Tip: We stayed in a poolside room. Can be loud after hours. The air conditioner may be a little too loud...

This is my second time in this hotel and i have to say this time i was amazed, specially with the staff, they did an outstanding job!
Food was great and fresh, the bartender was all the time making sure everybody was ok, never had to wait for my drinks. The manager is very nice and professional, same as the rest of this staff.
I loved it, i had a great b-day weekend, and next time i'll go to key west, i will go back to Island House.
Thank You guys for everything u done!
Cristian

After spending time with family over Memorial Day, decided to have some low maintenance downtime in key west. Island House was all I hoped for and fun was had by all. Great place to make new friends, do nothing, hang by the pool... Very relaxing, intimate and inviting! Great place to stay in key west.

Room Tip: Courtyard is quiet and intimate, poolside is fun and busy. All the rooms are cool.

A buddy and I checked into room 209,which overlooks the outdoor jacuzzi at the island house . Upon checkin, we rendered our attire to the wardrobes and joined the friendly fellas at the sunday naked pool party. the average age was 45 or so , which was perfect as I like to admire men, not boiz; and men were there in all of their glory. can u say glory glory hallelujah. the bar staff made sure all of our needs were fulfilled and the afternoon turned into an evening of pleasure in the video room. 25 or so guys filled each other up with love and hope and all I can say is thank u jesus. ive never been overcum with so much emotion in all of my life. for 4 days and 4 nights, we enjoyed all that the island house has to offer and we shall return soon for more fun in paradise. thank you island house.

Room Tip: room 209 is great for buddies that require 2 beds.
