“Fantastic stay at Pegasus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

This art deco hotel is a gem. It is on Duval, where you want to be in Key West. You don't need a car, as you can walk everywhere. We only needed a rental car for 1 day, to tour the Keys. They have 10 dollar parking half a block down, super convenient.
Where to start...the customer service of this hotel is the best we have encountered, and we travel a lot. From mgmt. to housekeeping and everyone between, they were so wonderful and accomodating, no request they wouldn't help with. One special star was Svetlana, who worked the front desk. She is amazing. She knew where everything was in Key West, all the great restaurants, and helped us with every question and request. I hope mgmt. Knows how wonderful she is with all the guests!
We had the executive poolside room on the second floor, which was perfect.Bed super comfortable and great pillows.Huge shower with lots of hot water.Has a small fridge and microwave. No complaints with the room.We did not find it noisy at all, slept great.
The pool is warm and wonderful, jacuzzi soothing.
It was nice to end each night by chilling on the roof top, looking down at all the tourists on Duval. Awesome!
We used the Tiki bar and I don't understand how some reviews complainedt that it was never open. The hours are posted, folks...just read the sign. Bartender was a great host.
The shuttle was a deal at ten dollars, driver fantastic..always prompt and polite.
Continental breakfast is just that, continental. It was good, fresh and started our day off great.
This place is perfect and we loved it. Thank you to all the wonderful staff!

Room Tip: There is no fitness centre and spa. Sorry, laptop could not make the change. Executive poolside room...

We decided to go to Key West and had a lot of trouble finding a room at one of our usual places so decided to give the Pegasus a try...so glad we did! It was a delightful stay...the rooftop pool was great! Very nice rooms and having parking available for $10 was a bargain. Now for the noise...some people have given this hotel poor marks due to the bar noise. 1st of all, you are in Key West so expect wild and crazy! I must say, our air conditioner provided all the "white" noise we needed to get a great night's sleep!

Room Tip: We asked for a quite room when we booked this property and ended up in the main building overlooking...

this older hotel, recently renovated was a pleasant suprise in the heart of key west. this hotel was right in the middle of shopping on duval st. the parking was only a short distance away and was only $10 per night for in and out. the rooms were very clean and recently updated. the help was freindly and helpful. there is even a swimming pool and sunporch right above duval st.

Room Tip: ask for a top floor room

We stayed at the Pegasus International Hotel for one night in Key West. They were one of the few that will book just one night right on Duval Street. It is just a short walk from Mallory Square and right across from Margaretville. We called to see if we could check in early but nobody answered. We arrived right at 3:00 and we were able to check in. Parking is about 100 yard down the street. The hotel was nice and the second floor pool/bar/lounging area was a great place to relax. We used the pool for a bit one night and we sat in the hot tub…it was actually hot. The bar tender brought us over a drink and it was a great way to cap off the night. There were towels on a rack poolside. There was a free continental breakfast that had some pastries, cereal, juice and coffee downstairs. The Wi-Fi worked ok in our room and the pool area.

Our room was right off the pool and we took the elevator to get our stuff up there, but then there is an awkward little set of steps to the pool that were a pain with the suitcases. Our room was brightly decorated and very clean. There was a huge king sized bed, small refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV, phone, alarm clock, and a window with a view onto Duval street. We never heard any noise from the street or the pool. It seems like the hotel was fully booked, but we hardly saw anybody because they are all out partying. You can get snacks…some real odd ones too, at the poolside bar. There are a zillion bars and restaurants within a few minutes’ walk so that will not be a problem. All in all I would recommend this place if you want to be close to all the action.

Room Tip: I like the rooms that opened up to the second floor pool area

I visited the Key West and stayed at he Pegasus. Good location, just in the downtown on the main Duval street. Rooms are ok, i just slept in my room and spent all my day outside. Didn't try the included breakfast. A lot of different good places where to it though.

First stayed at the Pegasus International several years ago. The building and furnishings were old and outdated but the service and cleanliness were excellent.
I recently returned for a stay at the Pegasus and was shocked at the difference throughout the entire hotel. The reception area and lobby facilities were completely remodeled. The receptionist was warm, friendly and pleasant as I remembered. Upon entering my room I was shocked again. The entire room was newly remodeled from the carpet, drapes, furnishings and electronics (clock radio and flat screen TV). Even more impressive was the remodeled bathroom, new fixtures as well as the shower!
When I was there several years ago, the outdoor pool area left a lot to be desired. The bar wasn't open, the furniture consisted of picnic tables and bar chairs. I was pleasantly surprised to see modern outdoor lounge chairs, tables AND the pool bar was open and serving.
All in all you cannot go wrong staying at the Pegasus International. Between its' convenient location and amenities it it a hard place to beat when visiting Key West.

David C.

Room Tip: Any room would be an excellent choice

We spent 4 nights in Pegasus’ room 210, beginning St. Patrick’s Day weekend. We hope to return to Key West soon, and we’ll definitely stay there again. Some of the criticisms I’ve read are valid: Our room wasn’t too small, but it had a king bed that took up most of the room. Breakfast was light (but fresh, sufficient, and available when it was supposed to be). The bathroom (no tub) was cramped, with very limited shelf space and only one small towel rack. We didn’t use the parking service, so we can’t comment on that. Our receipt on check-out was just a credit card slip for the total amount, with no itemization of charges. (I haven’t requested a detailed invoice.) On the plus side, service was excellent, no matter who we talked to. The room was cleaned and towels replaced every day. We heard a little street noise from spring breakers occasionally, but nothing kept us awake. The bed was quite comfortable, and we had plenty of really nice pillows. We only used Internet service in the room, and it never failed. We had a microwave and fridge, everything (A/C, lighting, TV) was in working order, and the water pressure was good. There were no drips, stains, mold/mildew, odors, or signs of wear and tear. The elevator operated quickly, although you hardly need it if you’re just on the second floor. The pool and hot tub were both sparkling clean, and towels were always available. We were picked up promptly from the airport and taken back again when we left Key West. We had an afternoon flight home, and we got an OK to hang out on the pool deck until time to leave. No matter the price, you could not find a better location to see the sights; we didn’t need to rent bikes or scooters, much less a car. We spent a good bit of time at Pegasus, having drinks and/or meals on the deck while we watched the show on Duval Street.

Room Tip: My only suggestion would be to ask to see the room before you check in. My husband and I are average...
