“Very relaxing....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

When you consider that this is one of the most reasonably priced places in Old Key West, there is very little to complain about! The staff is very friendly and helpful; Johnna has all kinds of recommendations and discount cards for meals, drinks, and tours. The rooms are nicely appointed and most have small kitchenettes. The least expensive room (known as Stnd) would be disappointing to anyone staying more than one night. Since we were there for a week, we asked to be moved....and no problem...we stayed in #4 which was very nice. The breakfast by the pool was good: juice, cereal, yogurt, fruit, coffee, bagels, etc. We rented bikes and toured most of the island. Check out Alonzo's at the marina for half-priced appetizers and 2-for-1 drinks!

This motel is great. The price is reasonable, rooms are spacious & clean. The courtyard is beautiful. Johna & the staff are very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was plentiful & fresh. Location was good. Very close to the beach & Duvall ST. All within walking distance. Close to the butterfly conservatory. Don't miss it!

Room Tip: Room #6 has a private courtyard.

The hotel has a nice little tropical set up with a heated central pool. The rooms are a little small. Our room had a small Window A/C that was rather loud and actually over powered the sound from the TV. That little A/C did it's job quite well though, especially when escaping the sun and heat. We also had lots of small ants near the TV. It was, however; a great location, very close to Duval St. and the southernmost point and the price was not too bad either. It is a toss up as to whether or not I'd stay here again. We will see.

Johnna helped us get set up in our room and gave us maps and advice on what to see since we aren't really city folk. This place had everything we needed. A warm bed, a hot shower, a pool and a decent breakfast. It was a great atmosphere! Our room was small, but you don't really want to stay in your room anyway with all the sites to see!

We stayed at the Alexander Palms March 26-29th. When you book online, you never really know what it's going to be like when you actually get there. Well, this little gem is magnificent, quaint, a true Key West Paradise. Carol and Johnna were amazing at helping us with activities, directions and points of interest. The breakfast around the pool was a lovely start to each day. Relaxing in and around the pool was a great way to end the day. Close enough to all the action (all within walking distance), but far enough away to be a peaceful, tranquil escape! Will definitely return.

We just spent one night in Key West (wish it was longer) and stayed at the Palms. What an awesome B & B. Very quaint and typically southern. Breakfast was perfect (set up out by the pool) consisting of bagels, yogurt, fruit, hot drinks, cold drinks.
Didn't get a chance to use the pool but it looked very inviting, surrounded by palm trees and flowers, chairs and lounges. There was a supply of towels, sunscreen, books, newspapers, all the necessities.
Location was ideal, only two blocks from Duval in one direction, and three blocks to the beach in the other direction. It was at the opposite end of Mallory Square but really not that far, everything is within walking distance.
We stayed in a 2 person studio, complete with a full kitchen. Nice to have but we weren't there long enough to make use of it. The fridge was all we used. Double bed was very comfortable. The shower was a stall style (no tub) which is what I like, and there were toiletries supplied. There were a couple of negatives about the bathroom, one is the door is made of slats of wood so the light and odors come right in the room, and the fan which comes on together with the light was very loud.
There is only parking in front for 8 cars and is first come, but overnight parking is permitted on the side streets so finding parking was not an issue.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Alexander Palms really is a "hidden gem" that I would definitely recommend and would return to if I return to the Keys!

My first time in Key West and what a great place to stay! We loved everything about the Alexander Palms. Rooms were awesome! Pool was fabulous! Breakfast was yummy! Location was fantastic! Johnna the manager, was very friendly and happy to help with your plans. We will stay here when we return to Key West!

Room Tip: I think all the rooms would be great.
