“Take a Break From the Beaten Path”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014

I know it’s not at the top of your list, or even on your list to visit here but you will no doubt pass it going up and down Duval. You can just walk into the gardens behind the house, enjoy a few minutes of quiet, and shade. There is a lot to learn if you’re interested but it is one of the few places that actually has key lime trees and lets you know that they originally came from Spain.

“Cute drop in spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

After reading the reviews, we decided to check out the oldest house in Key West. We were a group of 12 between the ages of 21-58 and everyone enjoyed it. Doesn't take too long and it's right in the hustle of Duval street so it's a great place to just pop in and see while you're making your way along the "Duval Crawl". Best of all, it's free! But please leave a donation to help keep this gem preserved.

“What a gem on Duval Street”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

After reading reviews on TA, we decided to visit on our most recent cruise and were not disappointed. Take time to read the illustrations in each room to learn the true history of the house. A volunteer was there and was very eager to share the history of the house. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful to get away from the rush of Duval Street. Remember to leave a donation to keep the house going for future generations.

“An oasis of peace on Duval Street”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

This was a lovely surprise - I saw the sign on Duval Street and went for a look! I could hardly believe that there was no charge for admission. The rooms are beautifully kept with period furniture and antiques. I especially liked the old kitchen, which is in a separate building from the main house because of the fire risk. The little garden behind the house is a lovely oasis of peace where you can escape from the noisy bars and boutiques on Duval Street!

“Nice place, friendly people”

Quaint little place and worth a visit. Learn a little Key West history. Nicely maintained buildings and grounds. Friendly, helpful people.
