We were pushing our double stroller around the streets and passed by this house.
It was FREE so we went in. The history of the place is interesting and the grounds out back are really cool. There was room to go through the downstairs with the stroller and a guy to explain things. Worth stopping in for sure.
Yeah, free.. Something for free in KW.. You just have to find it. That is the trick. Ask for a map and your good to go.

Before Truman purchased it a boat captain owned the propoerty. It is one of the oldest places in KW. You'll see how hard life was in KW with NO A/C or HEAT! They cooked over a coal stove! The out house was just that.. OUTSIDE. Nice gardens and old sttuff to see.

Not to many of the sites are free and this one is!! Very well preserved by the local historical society. Operates strictly on donations and fund raisers. Worth stopping in!!
The Oldest House is a FREE attraction right on Duval Street. If you enjoy history, this little house is a must see. Considering the zoo like atmosphere on Duval, this is an oasis of quiet. A guide is available to explain exhibits and to answer questions.
