We had a great experience at this property. I have to say we did not encounter any problems, The staff were very friendly, the unit we had was new and nicely decorated. Good floor plan and expansive balcony. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the place.

There was no construction , everything was completed and looked good.

The beach at Smathers was great for the kids to play and participate in the watersports activities offered.

I would highly reccommend this property, great value for our money.

If you have children or grandchildren you do not want to stay at 1800. The manager yells at all the childern trying to have fun in the pool She gets down right nasty to the kids and their parents as well. She did not yell at our kids, but she was mean and angry at most of the other children who were not behaving in any manner not consistent with being a child. The units are very large, but the one we stayed in was old and beat up. The beach is covered with trash, debris and seaweed (not the condo's fault, but something to keep in mind if you are looking for beach use). It's biking distance from downtown, but we drove. All in all I would be hard pressed to stay here again.

We just returned from a few days of vacation in Key West, FL where we chose to try a two bedroom/two bath condo rental. We expected to find ourselves in a nice little apartment setting near the beach and at any other time, it is probably just that. The accomodations were pleasant and inviting with lots of space to spread out and enjoy. However, we didn't know that the place was under construction. Repairing hurricane damage to the roof of this very large condo complex is underway 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. Loads weighing hundreds of pounds are constantly being dropped on the rooftop, shaking the floors of the building every 10 minutes or so. Power saws, tar, sledge hammers and other annoyances just added to list of construction zone inconveniences we had to endure. Had we known, we would have spent our time and money elsewhere.
This project will take them months to complete, so avoid this location for your 2006 vacation...
Key West was beautiful and fun, but our memories will be tainted by the accomodations.

We have been to Key West many times and decided this trip to stay on the Atlantic side by Smathers Beach and chose the Atlantic 1800 condo. We loved the location and the olyimpic pool and spa was on the beach with a great view of the ocean. With that said be sure and ask for a pool veiw room on the top floor or you might end up ocean view looking over the street. But could get to eating area and walked the beach every day!!!
