Great little place, very clean and quiet yet only 1 block off Duval!! Overall I would definitely recommend.
After 3 not so great places in Key West, I saw the Jasmine House on the internet. It looked nice, and I thought the price was affordable. When we got there, we were more than pleasantly surprised. We had the Treetop Suite and it was perfect. Very well appointed and everything in the suite worked just fine. There was plenty of room for the 2 of us, and it was very quiet. We were out and about most of the days, but coming back to the Jasmine house was a real treat. Linda, the inkeeper, is very pleasant and stopped by to see if there was anything we needed. We left there on March 1 and have already made our reservations for Feb 2009. This will definitely be our home in Key West each time we return. You couldn't ask to stay in a better place.
We spent 8 nights in the Treetop Suite. It was a clean, tastefully decorated, & quiet apartment. The location is convenient. We truly enjoyed our stay.
We stayed for 6 nights in February at the Jasmine House. We stayed our first two nights in the wicker room which is the second room. The room was simple but very clean. The room had a queen sized bed, built in desk, night stand, small fridge and TV hung on the wall. The bathroom was very small. It looked as if it was built into what was closet. The shower was probably just 36" square. The room had french doors that opened into the hallway. At first I thought it strange, but there were curtains and shades to cover and we never felt a loss of privacy. Also, with so few guests, we rarely saw anyone although the hotel was at capacity. All in all it was a comfortable room, although the bathroom was small.
On our third night we moved to the Garden Suite in the Rear of the building which consisted of a kitchen, living room area, dining room area, bathroom, bedroom with queen bed, and outdoor space with hot tub, seating area, hammock, and BBQ grill. As soon as we walked it we said to each other that we would love living there. There were quirky touches to the decoration of the rooms - just the kind of touches that make you feel that someone put thought into it: in the kitchen old siding covered a wall, in the bathroom old flooring covered another wall and the sink was set atop an old drop leaf table. The best part was that the living area opened up to the rear deck & garden so it was like having another room. There is a large awning over the rear deck, so we were able to still use the outdoor area on a rainy day.
The bedroom in the Garden Suite was larger than the first we stayed it. There was a closet with safe, writing desk, dresser, and TV. The bed was comfortable with upscale linens and an air conditioner in the window. There was central air throughout the suite as well. The kitchen had all you needed to make a meal, although we never took advantage of it. Linda the property manager was helpful from the time we called to inquire on renting rooms to the day we left.
The location was good: Just a 1/2 block up from Duval. We were midway between Malory Square and the Southernmost point. Bike rentals are just around the corner and is a must. We parked our car the first day and didn't use it until we left. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
My husband and I stayed in the Garden Suite for 8 nights from Feb 17th-25th. The property is lovely, with flowers, mature trees and plants surrounding the secluded garden in the back. The suite is quiet, being away from the street and next to a church. The Garden Suite itself is charming, with an old Key West feel of painted wood walls and tile and wood floors. It is decorated beautifully with comfortable furniture, artwork and interesting collectibles. Linda, the innkeeper, couldn't be nicer or more helpful. She was there with any question that we had and made our stay a delight. The suite has everything you would need for a week's stay, and the gorgeous garden, hot tub and hammock create an outdoorsy feel to the rooms. I would not hesitate to stay there again. It has a great location just off the middle of Duval Street, but the location is still quiet and secluded. If you like casual comfort and a homey feel, the Jasmine House fits the bill.
