“Nice for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here even after reading some harsh reviews on tripadvisor. The beachfront location, pool, and island style were appealing and we were not disappointed. Hotel staff was cordial and very accomidating. Though we didn't spend much time at the resort, I wish we had stayed longer to enjoy excessive pool and hammock time. (There are literally hammocks every 5 feet; a very nice accommodation.) The rooms were clearly recently redone and the bathroom, though small, was beautifully tiled and shower (pressure) was hot/awesome. I was charged a 10$ per night resort fee for booking online; if i had known that i would have called them directly. My constructive criticism since ive noticed the managers of the resort read TA; the room we stayed in needed some kind of rug or welcome mat. It was raining when we arrived and impossible to not track dirt into the room immediately, would be nice to have something to wipe your feet off on before jumping into the bed. Also, the lowlight of the stay was being woken up at 9 AM by lawn crew maintenance men who were refacing the foliage outside of our room (before July 4th weekend.) After hearing them shouting in Spanish for 10 or so minutes, I had to go outside and using my best Spanish, ask them to quiet down. (" Shhh.... Necessito Dormir" or "Shhh... I need to sleep" ... To be specific) beyond that we enjoyed our stay and wish there was more time to spend at the resort.

Thanks for staying with us. Oddly enough I just approved the new outside mats. With all the sand, we needed something better to brush your shoes or feet at the door. So thanks for your suggestion.
See you again soon.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Booked a queen courtsized room, much too small, some SUV's are bigger. Requested and received a beachfront 2 full size bed upgrade although just wife and I traveling. Tremendous difference, made an emotional impact on our feelings of hotel. Outside side sitting, private hamock and 25 ft. walk to very warm bay water. Average one way fair to Duval St for 2 was $ 15-18. Front desk and taxis were great for inside information on where to go to visit. Food staff at crab were great. If not expecting a 4 star resort and want to spend 2 - 3 days at the beginning of Key West, do it , but only with bayside, hammock rooms, otherwise TOO small

Room Tip: Only go to bayside with hammock unless you like severe closeness to your roomate. Talking bird and...

I am glad you enjoyed the waterfront room. The room you originally booked was a Value Room which is not on the beach. Value Rooms are small but a bargain for Key West. They are great for people who just need a place to lay their head.
Our new website is really great for choosing the best room type for you. It actually shows you every room type by floor plan, resort location, shows multiple photos of each room and a Virtual Tour inside the rooms. You can even walk around in all the rooms before you book. Give it a try. It's a new Google product.

Past poor reviews are correct, bad customer service, poorly ran, obvious that the owner doesn't understand what Americans look for in hotel accommodations. Cleaning staff doesn't clean, be prepared to buy a broom from Winn-Dixie as you will need to sweep your own tile floors daily and you may or may not get fresh towels, we had to find the maid cart and take them ourselves. The music piped in to the outside drove everyone nuts 80's retro over and over and over again!! Done will never return!!

I just said goodbye to a family of four from North Carolina who have already booked their stay with us next year. We were just chosen to represent Key West at the biggest travel industry show of the year. When people write a bad review, I often see things in it, I can address, but I also see a lot of exaggeration. Check our website, There is a virtual tour there that will show you exactly what you will get when you arrive here. Our staff are known for their friendliness and our rooms are known for being spotless. That's not an exaggeration.

The room are a fire hazard the so called double room is just a small room with beds almost one on top of the other. The air conditioning unit did not blow cold air. The curtains were to small for the glass door and the sunlight was impossible to block. We were four per room and it was supplied with only one miniature soap and one bottle of shampoo. The room had a bad smell like swamp water. Do your self a favor and book a room in some other Hotel in the area. We cancelled as soon we encounter the disaster that we were lure into. Thanks God we did found a town house for less money and way much better and our vacations was saved.

Room Tip: If you are Military go to Navy Wings and rent a town House The service on Base is outstanding!

Boy, this review is awful. But it is not accurate. Go to our website or see Google's Inside view and you will see the all our rooms, our beach, in fact, everywhere you want to see, you can see it all as it really is. In some very recent reviews, you will see we had a very bad experience with a baseball tournament group at the resort who vowed to slam us on Tripadvisor for curtailing their "party". It may be one more of those. Look back and you will see many reviews that depict what people enjoy here. It's a great place to stay in Key West

Everything about this place rocks! Every staff member to the owner were friendly and helpful. Beautiful scenery including giant iguana who surprised us outside our room. Will be my choice to stay next time we visit. Restaurant has great food including conch chowder that I was given a sample when leaving thumbs up and awesome key lime pie of course.

Room Tip: Waterfront deluxe was awesome

Clearing up lies, number one:small colman grill was on back porch never lit as we stored it in back so it wasn"t stolen gas was never even attached. Second we put up a small pop up tent as my family member has a medical condition and is not allowed direct sunlight (covered by American Disability Act) it was taken down once that family member was done sitting outside. Rooms were never cleaned and towels were stacked on floor after second day and thrown on toilette on fourth day. This was also our first time here and we were not with baseball teams. Own up to poor management and bad staff stop making excuses and clean up your act!

Room Tip: pick another hotel

Ibis Bay is not an RV park, or a campground. We do not allow tents on the grounds, use of a toaster oven in the room, any type of open fire on the property or more people in the room than the law allows. Our safety and maximum occupancy rules are there for everyone's safety. That's why we adhere to them firmly.

The location was not amazing, it did not have a beach front as I would have wanted but overall okay, the water overlooking the hotel had jet ski rentals but not the best or cleanest water I would like to experience it in. All rentals and amenities were within reach, if they were not the hotel would provide a shuttle free of service.
Room was clean and loved the backdoor(I am a smoker)
DO NOT GO IN JULY! I was told by locals that the water actually goes through a change and the ocean floor is mushy and smells a lot of algae/seaweed. This is only in the summer months. September comes and its gone.

Room Tip: Get room on the second floor, they have balconies overlooking water.

Thank you for staying at Ibis Bay. As you suggest, our beach-front rooms are worth the extra money. Water wise, the water is clearest when the temp is coolest. But that's only an issue at the shoreline. Once you snorkel or kayak off-shore for a few yards, it's really clear all through the year.
See you again soon!
