The La Mer House was simply perfect. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there for six days. Quiet, classy, comfortable, clean and ideal... Located on the quiet end of Duval Street, it's close enough to the fun, but still quiet and peaceful for a good night's sleep.

Since we had access to all amenities of the Southernmost Resorts, we checked out everything. The pool adjacent to the Southernmost on the Beach was quiet and close to the beach and cafe. The pool at the Southernmost was the place to be during the day for cold drinks, good music and a dip in the pool with fellow travelers.

The beach is not a beach by the stereotypical terms. There is seaweed, but the staff does a great job of cleaning it up every morning. No nasty smells. If you want to avoid wading through a tad bit of it, use the steps on the pier. The pier is the place to get a tan, by the way! Oh and chairs on the beach will cost you five dollars a day.

The cafe on the beach was great for quick lunches between excursions and cold cocktails before hitting the town. The continental breakfast service that came with our accomodations was delicious - pastries, fresh fruit, juice, cereal, bagels, toast, Belgian waffles, fresh coffee, espresso - you name it!

We loved the La Mer and are looking forward to celebrating an anniversary or two there!

La Mer and Dewey House are beautiful properties in a perfect location on the beach, close to Duval, but away from traffic. This is the very best place to stay in Key West.

We researched many Hotel properties since this was going to be our first visit to Key West. We chose the La Mer based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. After a long drive from Miami, traffic was particularly bad that day because of a bicycle race, we received a warm welcome at check-in and were given a brief tour and escorted to our room. We found the room to be larger and more quiet than expected, it was also exceptionally clean.

As first timers it did not take us long to find out that Duval St is where all the fun is. We were able to walk to everything including
Mallory Square, however, we rented scooters and found this was the best way to get around. The property exceeded all my
expectations from check-in/check-out to housekeeping. This will definitely be the place I stay when visiting Key West.

I researched about every property located on the southside of Key West. I wanted the southside to stay away from the drunken crowds of Duval and the day-wandering cruise boat people. The southside is close enough to walk to the action yet far enough to get away for some peace and quiet. I looked at the Santa Maria but it is only two bedrooms and therefore too pricey for my needs. I also looked at the Casa Marina (original Flagler Hotel) but it was charging both a resort fee and parking fee on top of its room rate. I chose the La Mer because it is a classic old town Key West guesthouse with lots of charm and grace but with the additional amenities and services of the Southernmost Hotel group. The La Mer and Dewey House are side by side on South Street between Duval and Simonton. They are both classic old town quaint and very well kept. The rooms come with a conti breakfast and afternoon tea that is served on a breezy veranda at the Dewey House overlooking South Beach. Our room at La Mer was upstairs overlooking South Street. It was large, very clean, quiet, and very comfortable. The service was great from early check-in to check-out. We used the concierge service to rent bikes and reserve day trips. We had no issues at all with this property. I would rate La Mer as very good and would return to the La Mer again. I recommend this property for honeymooners and mature adults only.
