First, let me say that the pool area is lovely, and the staff were super nice. Breakfast consisted of activia yogurt, packaged cereals and apples. Nice location - close enough to walk to attractions, but quiet. OK, now the down side. When we arrived, our room had not been cleaned very well. Hair in the tub. Rust, corroded tub drain, peeling paint on bathroom wall, rotting frame above window. There was mold growing on the ceiling and it smelled damp and musty. Not at all what we were expecting based on their website, and we are paying $2200 for the week, so not inexpensive. I talked to the management to see if we could be moved to another room, but they were booked. We are here for New Year's week, so nothing available. We had to prepay for this week, so we are out of luck. They got someone to come in with a bleach solution and clean up the mold. Smells much better. Advice: Be sure when you make your reservation to ask for a room that has been updated. Traveling with family members who had an updated room. They were in room 31, and their room is lovely. The place has wi-fi, but it doesn't work in our room. We were advised to sit by the pool, where the signal is better.

Easy Walk to all the Key West tourist sites. No need for rental car. Bike rental was a block away with bike racks on property. Safe. Old House gave you true flavor of Key West. The bedroom was large and bed comfortable, although hairs in sheets made you wonder if clean. Window A/C blocked out the noise of the street. Very small shower stall in the very small bathroom. Larger person could never fit. Window in bathroom growing mildew from where there was previous water damage. Faded print hanging on the bedroom wall. The wine refrig made lots of noise and never did get cool. Cleanliness of room leaves room for improvement. Rug never vacuumed and worn. Outside the steps were full of palm berries that you tried not bringing inside. Public areas are welcoming. Poolside breakfast with other guests was enjoyable. Just clean the rooms better, add new refrig, and new wall print, then you could forgive the tired old guest house. December 2011.

We were only their for one night, but the two staff members we had to deal with at the front were spectacular. Brian was a complete sweetheart! Room was a little small, but perfectly clean and comfortable for what it was. Would stay again!

Had a wonderful stay in Key West at the Chelsea house. Stayed in room 26, the Forster Room. Room was slightly small but worked for the 4 days we were there. There is so much to do and see in Key West that the only time we spent in the room was to sleep and shower. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly,and accomodating in all aspects of our trip. Our room was clean as was the rest of the house. The location is the greatest, just a few short blocks from Duval almost in the center of the island. They only serve a continental breakfast, which was fine for us as we wanted to explore the island and try all of the wonderful restaurants around us. Our only complaint would be more space for your clothes and a full sized mirror on the wall. We will definitely be back!
