Our first experience at a B&B, it was wonderful - very clean and I am very picky when it comes to cleanliness, I didn't want to leave!
We stayed in the Tropical Suite July 17 -21, 2005. Our room had a private balcony, a small living room, a king size bed, small refrigerator, two tv's, a large closet with a dresser inside and two dressers in the bedroom. Our bath had a rainfall shower head with a soap/shampoo/conditioner dispenser which was very convenient. There was extra pillows and blankets in the closet if we needed them, it was nice having them in the room without having to ask. If we needed a hair dryer or iron/ironing board it was available upon request.
The breakfast was buffet style where you could make belgian waffles with a choice of syrup (regular, chocolate, strawberry) and whipped topping, they also had cereal, muffins, bagels, cream cheese, bread for toasting, hardboiled eggs, jelly/jam, butter, fruits in syrup, coffee, milk, orange juice. You wouldn't go hungry!!!
The pool was kept clean and they provided floats and noodles, you don't get that at any hotel. The upper sun deck had a toliet so you didn't have to run to your room all wet.
Thanks to everyone at the Chelsea House for a great experience, especially Glen for the suggestion of our favorite place to eat, The Deli, a place owned by the same family for 55 years. Great food, friendly staff and you get your moneys worth.
The Chelsea House is centrally located, only a couple blocks from Duval street, just park your car and walk. The staff is very friendly and helpful, several times we asked for suggestions of places to eat and they gave us directions and/or menus. I suggest staying at the Chelsea House whenever visting Key West.

Yes, we will stay here again, or at the sister house, Red Rooster Inn. That is where you check in.

The people were so nice--Jayson, Amy and ALL the others, not one unfriendly person to be found. Well, maybe ----- Kitty (the name we gave her) could change her attitude. She slaps your hand during the day, but will come to your room at night for leftovers!! As we were leaving we saw a picture of the cats and their names. Her name? Evil--of course!!

We wish we had stayed longer. The next time we will not waste a day staying in Key Largo or Miami Beach. Hey, it was our first time--we didn't know we would find our new FAVORITE PLACE!!

Our room was nice, the bed was very comfy--especially after the one in Key Largo!! The grounds were pretty, the pool area--where you get to meet the other guests over free breakfast, was enjoyable. The location is great, we walked almost everywhere. When I wore heels, we got a cab :)

Key West to us was like a tropical New Orleans (our old favorite place). Just wish it wasn't so far from Chattanooga.

We stumbled into Key West without reservations on a Sunday knowing absolutely nothing about the place other than there are a bunch of dudes walking around who look kind of like Hemingway. Luckily, we found the Chelsea House. It has every bit of the funky, cosmopolitan charm a place like Key West should provide.

Concierge “Jayson” was instrumental in helping us discover Key West. He set us up with reservations to the awesome Seven Fish restaurant (which also happens to be just up the block), and he turned us on to Rick’s Blue Heaven for “breakfast with the roosters.” (Okay, Jayson also sent us to PT’s Late Night Bar & Grill. But nobody’s perfect.)

The only down side is the very tight parking. But you don’t really need a car in Key West. Unless you’re in town selling janitor supplies.

And unless you really are in town selling janitor supplies, please just say no to the predictable, boring, overpriced chain motels just this once. Key West requires more of an effort than that.

Chelsea House would be a pretty good start to your wild, new, anti-franchised Key West lifestyle. Next thing you know, you’ll be shopping Duval Street for a frigging Che Guevara T-shirt!

This Hotel has character. Rooms are charming with some antique furniture and semi private balonies. Beautiful gardens, sundecks and pool. Serves breakfast each morning to guests as part of the room cost. Not the typical continental breakfast either. Centrally located in Old Town. They also have pet friendly rooms available. I would use this hotel again!
