We had such a miserable time at this hotel. There was a big wedding party which filled all the other rooms - we had booked ages in advance and might have expected a warning since we had mentioned how important a quiet room was in our booking and on arrival. There was endless noise all night long - slamming doors, people calling each other from room to room, running up and down stairs. In addition - and although the hotel can't be blamed for this - there was incredible noise all day from the demolition work going on in all the surrounding streets. The hotel was very snooty- checking in was a bit like being interviewed to send your son or daughter to Harvard. We had to leave one night early and the hotel was adamant about charging us in full. They had the right to do so of course but we did give them 48 hours notice and it was a family crisis. My own view is that USA isn't so good at this sort of place and the big anonymous but honest and authentic hotels (which cost no more than Gardens) are much more comfortable accomodating and friendly.
