We stayed at the Southernmost Hotel May 20- 23 2005 - from there we traveled to the St. Petersburg area.The hotel is easy to find from the airport as Key West is a small tourist area. I couldn't have been happier with the hotel area, lots of gift shops around and walking distance to the southernmost point cone to Cuba, which may I say was not impresssed with .The hotel has a nice pool and a pretty atmosphere, the staff were all courteous. This Hotel also has a beautiful pool area and a beach real close. We stayed in a room with one queen bed. We had the smallest room I have ever seen or stayed in. One bed, dresser against the wall about a foot from the bed , a night stand, TV on a cart, a small round table and two chairs, a small closet & a bathroom. It was very difficult to manuver around the room. There is very limited space throughout the room and storage of suitcases was very poor. We did not want to leave 3 large suitcases in the car so we had to bring them in . I had to keep one on the side of the bed and step over & around it throughout our stay. The cleanliness was adequate. Financially it was a great deal at $119 a night for that area. We do not like bed & breakfast places so we would stay again , although would have to spend more for a larger room.

The Southernmost Hotel definitely fits the setting of Key West, but they need to step up the service a notch! The consierge was never behind the counter, in fact he was no where to be found the entire time we stayed there. We actually had to sign in for towels and then had to get them ourselves, because there was NO consierge! The beds in the room were to short, our feet hung off the end and we are only 5ft 3". The toilet was always broken and would not flush. There was no "No Disturb" sign, which really was no big deal since the housekeeper never really bothered us. They say there is a beach, but it is pretty discusting and smells like dead fish, not much of a beach that were use to being from Daytona. Also, the pool closes at 11pm and there is a guard who makes sure you do not going in the pool after hours, how LAME is that! Your free drinks that you get at check in is weak and they won't let you bring any other drinks by the pool, they have to be from their bar.....if you on vacation why do you feel like you have to follow all these rules! Anyway, not exactly what I expected. Get a place closer to Mallory Square, it is hot there.

We arrived at the hotel early in the morning having driven from Miami and we able to check in as soon as we arrived. Our room was nice, nothing spectacular. The location was amazing, right at the end of Duval Street, near the beach and Southernmost point. This made it right in the heart of everything but just far enough away from the noise after dark.
The public areas were great and the pools fantastic. It didn't feel crowded even though it was nearly fully booked.
I would highly reccommend this hotel.

A friend visiting from Germany and I stayed there for 2 nights in April 2005 on our first visit to Key West and we had a wonderful time. The rooms are big, comfortable, and very well appointed with a modern twist. The place is very quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast can be taken right on the beach and there are lounge chairs on a private pier to enjoy the Ocean. Duval street is close enough for convenience and far enough for quietness. I am going back to Key West this summer with family and we will stay there.
