I can't say enough great things about the Southernmost Motel. The entire staff, from the front desk to the cleaning people were wonderful.
It's located on the quiet end of Duval Street which is really great after being down in the "wild end" of
Duval Street for a few hours.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

My wife and I spent 5 nights of our honeymoon at the Southernmost and loved every minute of it and Key West.
It's in a great location at the ocean end of Duval, just a 25-30 minute walk to Mallory square and with everything Duval has to offer.
Special mention of John on the front desk who was most helpful and friendly when we arrived, he really set the tone for the relaxing few days that were ahead of us.
For the price we paid it was definitely good value and I would recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I stayed at the Southernmost Hotel at the beginning of June and we had a great stay. We booked our room online and did not have any problems at all with our reservations. We had a Deluxe King W/balcony. We didn't have much of a view (all we could see was the parking lot) But the room more than made up for it. Our room was excellent! It was fairly spacious, nice decor and clean. Hotel staff cleaned everyday (we were there for 4 days) and the staff was very helpful and considerate. We also did not have any problems with parking (one reviewer mentioned a shortage of spaces). The beach that was across the street at the Southernmost on the beach was not large but it was very nice. It was beautiful at night with all the lights in the trees. Unfortunately the Duval Beach Club which is right on the beach is not much to talk about. We ate there one time and never went back. I definitely recommend renting a scooter or bike to get around the island. The hotel is in a great location, at the end of Duval street, but it is a very long walk down to Mallory Square. We had a great time in Key West and I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone I know!

We stayed there three nights the week of May 16, 2004. This is a nice looking hotel from the outside with two outdoor pools located at the eastern (Upper) end of Duval Street one block from the beach and near the Southernmost Point.

The majority of the restaurants, bars, etc. are at least 1/2 mile away but we chose to walk and didn't find it too tiring. The walk was enjoyable - even the 1.25 mile walk to and from Mallory Square. You just need to not be pressed for time. Every walk was a unique, memorable experience.

The tile floor of our hotel room was gritty and dirty, had evidently not been mopped before we arrived. The water coming out of the shower head was little more than a trickle and the water temperature fluctuated from very hot to too cold; it wouldn't maintain a consistent temperature.

The size of the room was adequate. But, the location of our room was not. Apparently it was just a few doors down from the housekeeping quarters. The crew gets started VERY EARLY each morning and just let that door slam closed the dozens of time they entered and left for supplies.

This hotel is one block from the beach; several others are also within walking distance. but we did not find any of the beaches in Key West suitable for swimming.

If we went back to Key West we would probably choose to stay at one of the adorable B&Bs on or near Duval, a little further west.
