“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2010

I travel a few times a year and this is a place i would 100% go back to. I went on vacation with my parents for a few days instead of doing a traditional thanksgiving back home. The rooms are so nice and the bathroom is amazing!! The pool is brand new and has a great outdoor bar... ask for Heather... she is super nice and can give some great recommendations on where to go depending on what you are looking for. The hotel also has bike rental so you can easily go there and rent some bikes (a must do in Key West) and check out Duval St or bike around the island (takes about an hour or so).

That being said if you are looking for a party place this is not where you want to be. The pool area is fun but there is no music anything like that at night. You want to stay at the other end of Duval St which is about a 10 to 15 minute walk. This hotel is connected to a sister hotel and has an outdoor restaurant/beach area which is great for breakfast or watching the sun go down. Really good place to stay and a great rate for what you get.

We've been to Key West many times--and stayed in different places each time-- but this was the best for several reasons. It's a beautiful (and beautifully maintained) hotel that feels like a self-contained resort AND it's right off Duval Street in one of the best parts of Old Town.
It's not inexpensive, but the amenities, the views, the location and the staff make it worth it. Southernmost has the kind of attentive customer service you'd expect at a four star hotel--but in keeping with the vibe of Key West, it's completely relaxed and friendly.
We shall return.

Wow, really sums it up. The staff went above and beyond for this special trip for my husband and I. I'll start with...
1. Check in--it was smooth, and painless. We arrived in Key West early, and after a walk down Duval, the SMOB allowed us to check in early, being as our room was ready. Diana was a great help in that process!
2. The room!--We had an endless view of the ocean, and to the right was the beach! It was beautiful and so far beyond our expectations! The beds were so comfortable, and the room was spacious, with a bay window for lounging and large shower!
3. The grounds--BEAUTIFUL!! Hammocks every few feet, right by the water. A Pier, a wonderful pool with tiki bar, and a private beach!! In the middle of the property is a lush tropical garden with exotic plants! And lounge chairs all over the property for sunbathing and relaxing!
4. The staff--James, at the Tiki Bar makes wonderful drinks and provides a show! Diana at the front desk is very helpful at check in and room questions. Scarlett and Julie, both concierge, are willing and ready to make reservations, call cabs, suggest tours and things to do! Julie recommended a Wind and Wine tour with Danger Charters, which was the best part of our trip!! She was wonderful and was always willing to help, even after my fifth call to her in a day!!
5. Location--at the South end of Duval, only 1 block from the Southernmost point in the US and just minutes walk from shopping, dining, and nightlife. The hotel also rents bicycles for 10+tax per day!
6. Amenities--Wonderful concierge, spa-which i unfortunately didnt get to try:(-access to all the property pools and jacuzzi, free parking!, private beach, private pier, free drink ticket upon arrival to use during your stay, free wifi!!

All in all, a great stay and we WILL be back again!! We didnt want it to end!!!! I strongly recommend a stay at the Southernmost Hotel on the Beach!!!!

This was the most amazing hotel we stayed in - it was absolutely beautiful almost like a 5 star hotel but really relaxed and laidback. Amazing location right next to the beach and in the quieter, classier end of Duval Street amongst the residents. You could walk down to the raucous end of Duval Street in about 20mins. Parking is free and there was free internet in the rooms - useful as the mobile reception in Key West can be pretty poor.

I stayed in a room with two beds whilst my friend had a King Bed room which were in another block. Every room has a balcony so you can look at the view.

Would go back there in an instant and only wished we had stayed longer here than in Miami Beach. Really, really lovely.

Stayed here for three nights in room 519 in block 'C'. Fabulous and very modern room on the ground floor, facing west, for an uninterupted view of some fabulous sunsets.
Hotel has a nice pool and bar although we preferred to use the hotel beach. (which is public, but beds and umbrellas are provided by the hotel) The beach bar provides good and reasonably priced drinks and food. Try the mini bar-b-q at only $3 a plate during happy hour. Hotel also has a pier and a 'Library Beach' which is great for peace and quiet. Rooms at this hotel are expensive but you get what you pay for! Location is fantastic and it is at the quiet end of Duval St/Mallory Sq. Only a pleasant 15 min walk to the heart of all the action. Recommend the 90 minute orientation trip on the island which can be organised by hotel concierge.

Have been going to southernmost for 9 years ( as well as recommending friends and bringing friends with us) and still enjoy it, the views are amazing, rooms are excellent, especially since the renovations/additions. The property is well maintained. You can read my previous reviews on this resort for all the great stuff. Now for the not so great, the place is overcrowded now, you used to be able to get a chair poolside without difficulty, not anymore. with the renovations they added an excellent pool bar, with that excellent bar came the highest drink prices in key west ( and i've drank in most of them). As far as appreciating returning costumers, well since they are so busy now, other than a "thank you for returning" don't expect much. Other resorts will comp you a meal, even a small discount on room or even a bottle of champaign. I guess you gotta expect this now since its no longer a small hotel, the hotel is beautiful but before this year, we never considered other places to stay, now we will. On a positive note, the restaurant on the beach has greatly improved its menu.

Very nice rooms, everything you need. They're hairdryer was better than the one I brought. Beautiful views at this resort. Spacious balconies on the oceanfront rooms. Pool very nice. We took a beer class/tasting at the pool which was very fun. Lot to do in this area, highly recommend butterfly conservatory. Good distance walk to Mallory square, only downside in my opinion.
